I found this book discounted on Amazon via BookBub; this is my honest review.
-I found that the description of the books reminded me of Arsene Lupin, a French gentleman thief and a master of disguise by Maurice Leblanc, which I love. Doesn't compare but worth the 4 stars.
-The author loves to throw names around and it's fun: Byron, Peabody, Mrs Beeton, to name a few.
-So true: "Justice, if we can prostitute the term as such, would go to the party who could afford the best lawyer".
-Raffles got me laughing every time "a hint of desire ... coloured his gaze". He opened my eyes as to what a womanizer is. Good job. I felt for Bunny. He got the girl, yea!
-The author is poetic in his descriptions, from a sunset to the furniture in a room "A buttery light washed over the sloping greenery and manicured shrubbery of the charming estate". And he uses all five senses (smells, tastes, noises, etc.).
-What I liked the least: 1. they drink and smoke a lot but I guess those were the times; 2. they get caught! Except in the last story; 3. As much as the author uses a good range of vocabulary, some words keep popping up, sometimes in the same paragraph.
-Editing needs another pass: wrong word (few/view), missing letters (the/then), etc. Enough to get a bit distracting at times.

Delightful

I love the original Raffles books, and these stories don't disappoint at all. Being a cricket fan just adds to the enjoyment. Well bowled Mr Foreman 😊
