An architectural survey of extant buildings from 1820 (the first remaining)through the 1890's, this little volume is a worthy addition to the building of the City. Domestic architecture always takes a back seat to the monumental, but not here. Once we stopped tearing down our heritage, we ended up with this small enclave in the City, and though its period integrity is broken, the remaining remnants are considerable in number.

From Federal style, through Greek Revival, into the Brown Decades following the Civil War and ending with the neo-classical, it's all here, photos for each survivor.

If you like New York City, have an affection for Brooklyn, and simply enjoy architecture, this is a must.
