"You don't know what you have until it's gone." This saying is especially true for your health. Random luck plays a large role, but you can make your own luck as well. With over 25 years of experience in family medical practice, Dr. Roger Smith has seen many telling examples of this.
Just as you need to provide sufficient care for your car to keep it running well, your own personal vehicle (your body) is no different. If you neglect to service your car or ignore warning signs of trouble, you risk a major breakdown.
Neglecting your car may be expensive, but at least it's replaceable. Unlike your body - where it's not so easy to undo years of neglect. But with the right attention and personal effort, you will be able to perform a skilful U-turn and your health may improve dramatically.
So come along for a simple drive to a healthier life, and live longer too!
Excellent Advice From An Expert I downloaded a free copy of this great little health guide after reading Noel Whittaker’s most recent newsletter. (For those who don’t know, Noel is a renowned Australian financial guru who gives excellent advice on investments, the economy, how to survive well whatever your budget and everyday living to ensure a successful future.) I thoroughly enjoyed this small book by an Aussie GP who sets out clearly how to take care of our bodies to ensure the best future possible, no matter our age. Likening to looking after our bodies to the buying and subsequent maintenance of a car was a clever comparison and made good sense. The goals set out to ensure we make the most of our bodies by looking after them are reasonable, easily achievable if you set your mind to following them, and should result in good health far into ‘old age’ (barring accidents etc of course). Everyone should read this - it took me less than 45 minutes to read, has given me the incentive to add these practical suggestions to my own life and hopefully live healthier and longer, and I’ve even taken screenshots of the list of goals/daily chores to ensure I remember until they all get ingrained in my brain. Do yourself a favour and download it for yourself.
