This book offers easy-to-use classroom strategies for the elementary school classroom. They demonstrate how teaching, learning, and assessment are inseparable and seamless. Each strategy will engage your students inactivity and reflection, consuming little class time, costing nothing, and uniting the three dimensions of education through reflective practice.
The chapters begin with a reflective teaching strategy, followed by classroom examples. Guiding icons will help you coordinate and implement each strategy. Chapters conclude with a set of learning community discussion questions to guide personal growth as well as faculty discussions.
This book had a lot of great practical strategies for getting students to reflect upon how and what they are learning. Some are old, some are new, but I appreciated the rationale and back history with each individual strategy. This is a "pick and choose and use" kind of book...meaning that you might end up not liking one strategy at all, and skipping it, etc. It isn't a heavy theory book, but does include a bit of theory with each strategy. I also appreciated the suggestions for how to differentiate the strategy foro different outcomes. Great book for practicing teachers.
