MERMAIDS AND THE VAMPIRES WHO LOVE THEM is a new release from Hachette Audiobooks: Powered by Wattpad - an innovative collaboration between Hachette Book Group, a leading publisher, and Wattpad, a passionate storytelling community of over 45 million people. Your favorite online stories, now available in your headphones!

Sixteen-year-old Waverly Fishwater believes that people who act suspicious are just begging for her to spy on them. When she eavesdrops on one of her dad's clandestine meetings, she learns that merfolk are being abducted. Fearing no one else will save them, Waverly swaps her tail for legs and heads to the site of the disappearances, but it doesn't go as planned. After exposing mermaidkind to humanity, Waverly has to come to terms with leaving the home, friends, and school she loves. For her safety, she must go to a remote boarding school on the California coast.

Waverly's new classmates are from a multitude of supernatural species, including werewolves, fairies, and minor Greek gods. But the bigger problem might be all the mermaid-blood loving vampires, and the fact that the most infuriating one has taken an interest in her already.

She must navigate this weird new world where her class schedule includes time-traveling history, fairy dance, interspecies biology, and sand-sculpting vain gods with rock-hard abs. The biggest letdown is that she still has to take algebra, even though polynomials are not her friends.

Just when she's starting to fit in, she begins to unravel a dark plot that could destroy the bayside school and the oceans beyond. As she gets close to solving the mystery, the mernapper takes hold of her mind and hides the clues that will piece it together. Waverly is left with the knowledge of one thing: she's next.

If Waverly is to expose the scheme and take out the mastermind, she's going to have to rely on the most dubious kind of help-reckless gods, single-minded werewolves, and virtuous fairies. To avoid a supernatural catastrophe, Waverly must rally this eccentric band of heroes, learning to rely on the help of others in order to stay afloat.

This is an absolutely delightful story, and it has just made my day listening to it. I have read this story in a couple forms with its start on Wattpad, and it is amazing to see how it has transformed. Goelz weaves an enchanting tale of a young mermaid who finds herself literally out of water and in a school where certain students might be interested in a snack like her. But that isn't all she has on her plate. There are other missing mers to worry about, and she has to learn how to handle all of these competing interests. Goelz creates an immersive world that is easy to envision living alongside ours. Not only that, but it is delightfully humorous with wry notes about life, school, love, and growth. An absolute must read. I can't wait to read more of Goelz's stories in the future.

~Fans of twilight, Harry Potter & Little Mermaid ~

This book is a combination of all of these great series!!! I couldn't keep from not listening to this book action packed with every chapter filled with romance and suspense. You really get to know the characters. It all started with a mystery in the beginning with merfolks missing and Waverly Fishwaters father goes out and tells her not to follow her but what does Waverly does follow her father and comes up on an conversation which brought chills down her scales!! She then turns to find her friend next to her and begs her to go with Waverly up to the boardwalk to investigate the vampire situation.. I don't want to spoil it for yall so go get a copy of it and happy listening!!!

What a joyous story this is! Smart and sweet and thrilling and romantic, with a fabulous ensemble cast. It makes you wish there was a lot more funny YA - Goelz really knows how to do comedy. She's up there with Sara Rees Brennan as a humourist who can also turn a phrase.

MATVWLT (seriously, that title is *fabulous* and also *loooong*?) is set in an alternative Bay Area in a world populated by mermaids and vampires ... and fairy godmothers. And demigods. And werewolves. Who are all at school together. There are gloriously bonkers lessons (Fairy Dancing. Magical Creature SexEd). There is a depressed pregnant (male) seahorse. There is a marvellously villainous Big Bad. There is a plot to Save Everything. There is a mermaid Mean Girl. And it is all such fun!

Look, I love dark stuff. Heck, I *write* dark stuff. But sometimes you just want to read something that is super-feel-good with smart twists along the way. MATVWLT is the book for you. The narrator is awesome. Highly recommended for fans of Sarah Rees Brennan's IN OTHER LANDS and Mackenzie Lee's GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE.

What in the name of the great God Poseidon did I just read? I mean, seriously. This book won a Watty, a WattPad award, but for the love of Job?????? This book was terrible. I bought it when I had a fever, and that is my justification for reading it. I could not return it because I got it on sale. So, the love story was too quick--pretty much with all the characters. The storyline was fine but not stellar. I got it and understood the conflict, but gosh Waverly is annoying. She is always doing stuff when she knows she shouldn't. She does things just to spite people because they tell her not to go there or do something. Trouble with authority, much? And at the school, the boys and girls living in the same damn cabin? I seriously don't see many parents okay with that. This was just a bunch of nonsense thrown together and while the conflict came to a somewhat ho hum conclusion; all in all, 1 of 10, I would not recommend.

This book is already a fun read, but to hear it in Waverly's voice puts you right there in the middle of the mer-tastic action! The characters are complex, the plot is fast paced, and the humor is infectious. This will definitely make anyone's boring commute fly by, like a vampire who can't resist the smell of his mermaid love's blood :)

This has to be the funniest thing I have ever read! It's like the author took every soap opera trope, added in a high school drama, than made all the characters mythological creatures to soar past 11/10 on the off-there-rockers scale! I couldn't go for more than a minute without giggling all over again.
