Generally pretty useful. The tone is a bit annoying...please don't tell me about the joy I'm going to feel when this or that happens, or the stress I'm going to feel about this or that, or make little jokes about how I have to remember that my sports-loving fiance might not want to spend the honeymoon shopping, which frankly is exactly the opposite of my situation btw...I can figure out my feelings for myself, thanks, just give me the info... but generally the author seems aware that some brides aren't into the whole tradition thing. And I guess it's somewhat useful to have some sense of what the traditions are, even if they are not your thing...

I have to say it kind of freaked me out a little bit though. I'm not that into the whole bride thing, but I'm starting to realize why people get hyper about shit that you'd never have thought would matter to you...I mean, I've always thought that if somebody actually gives a rat's ass what your table centerpieces look like, they shouldn't have been invited in the first place. I still do, but you read these books and magazines and you think to yourself, hmm. I guess having totally crappy food that nobody liked WOULD kind of suck. I mean, I think white tulle is ridiculous and I refuse to do crafts, but I do have to say that I appreciate a good party, and really, that's all a wedding really is...and you do kinda want to be able to say you threw a damn good one when it was your turn. I guess the whole wedding industry has its clever ways of intimidating us all.

The book gives you a good sense for what questions you need to be asking and what to think about; it was maybe not quite as helpful as I might have hoped about the hardest part of all, e.g. finding a site. There are some useful resources in the appendix, although I would have liked some more direction in terms of which sites are good and which are not. The author's virtual insistence in having an open bar gave her credibility in my book.

It's easy to read and VERY informative if you can get past the 'endless joy' statements. Especially on desitination wedding etiquette. Like who do I invite to the wedding shower? If I didn't invite them to the wedding do I invite them to the bachelorette party?

Very helpful.

It was somewhat informative, but my only problem was that the types destination weddings discussed were mainly beaches, cruises, etc. I had mine in New Orleans and there really wasn't too much that related to my situation.
