One of the best time travel books I have read and I have read loads. Kathryn Le Veque is an awesome author, her writing is just wonderful draws you in until the end. Her heroes are strong and yet loving she has just the right balance so they are not shown as weak or too uncaring and so are her heroines which is what I love. Her stories are wonderfully descriptive you can feel yourself there. Highly recommended.

April 11, 2018The stories in this book had a lot of potential. The first one especially held my interest despite all the grammar, spelling, and continuity errors (there were so many that it interfered with my reading and enjoyment of the book) but in the end it felt like more of a rough draft than anything. Some things were not quite resolved and felt incomplete, and the character development for Rory actually seemed to go in reverse the more the story progressed. In the first book she was a strong, independent, capable woman but in the second book she was a whiny, annoying brat the whole time. I actually got so frustrated with her that I found myself skimming chapters and reading ahead just so I could say I finished the book, which I ultimately gave up on. It's a shame because I really wanted to like it. Maybe if it was a bit more polished and certain parts were better developed, changed or even removed, it could be better. All I can say is that Kieran is a saint for putting up with second-book Rory because God knows I would not have put up with her crap for long.

Kieran and Rory
I really did enjoy reading this story. Sometimes I found it a little confusing. In one description Rory had long blonde hair, in the next she had chestnut hair. The 4 stars is because of the editing, I guess. Whom ever does the editing and proof reading should be demoted.
Thank goodness the story was good enough to continue reading.

1. THE CRUSADER - 4 STARS
Such a departure for this amazing author, this being a time travel story. I am not a fan of time travel stories, because I am usually unhappy with the outcome. Because one of them is like a duck out of water being in a different time period. Some of the H's adjustments were funny, but thought he would question more of modern technology.
It is a unique time travel story. I've had the next in the series on my Amazon Wish List forever because I knew The Crusader and Kingdom Come were connected but sold separately. It was like Christmas finding the them both in this bundle. Even though I've read the others in this bundle, just having these two was like getting a Christmas gift wrapped in a pretty bow.
The Lord's name is used several times and I didn't care for Bud always calling the h honey. For him to call her that over and over didn't ring true and she never corrected him.
There is mild lovemaking, outside of marriage, that just felt right - filled with love and passion. Heat level 2.5 out of 5.
KLV writes so vividly with her descriptions of the dessert and the dig that I could feel the heat and sweat. This story has it all, with betrayal, romance, twists, suspense, intrigue and as I've said a very unique story line.
I felt a connection to the H/h from their first contact. Oh, how my heart ached for Bud too but the epilogue brought a huge smile on my face for our dear Bud. I can't wait to read Kingdom Come and see how history was changed. I will say, the Epilogue is one of the best I've read. If you are reading only The Crusader, you may feel like it ends in a cliffhanger, it really doesn't. It's just such a clever way to end a story.
We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA but was a very bumpy road to reach it, romance and a tad of spice.
2. KINGDOM COME - 3.25 STARS
I rated book 1 of the series 4 stars and this one was a huge disappointment. Since I read these back to back it was like the character's in book 1 had a personality change.
Where the H came across in The Crusader as a strong, alpha type, he was more of a wimp in this story. I had a hard time respecting him, which is very unusual for a story by this author. Her men are written with such depth and strength. The H kept calling her sweetheart - a little too modern for time period. Granted he spent time in the current period, but not that long to pick up on so much slang.
Don't even get me started on the h. She changed the most from story 1. She did nothing but cry and whine that I wished I counted how many times she cried, 20-30 seemed at least that much. One if not the most disliked h I've read by this author.
I didn't give it 2 stars, because it was very unique. I have so many questions, even though were addressed, just didn't make sense. One being Simon from the past to his look a like in the current time period. How could this be? Not giving spoiler's but something happens at the end of book 1 that makes this impossible.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 4 out of 5. I truly have no idea why the H wanted to be with the h so I didn't feel a connection, because the h didn't deserve the H.

Enjoyable character's who feel something special after spending only a day together. I enjoyed the Prologue how he was descended from a god.
Our H has lived through a lot where it would have killed a mortal, but he is immortal. It was sad when he would make a life for himself and couldn't explain how he lived when he should be dead. He would have to move on and forge another life.
The ending was rushed. Yes, it is a novella and they are known for this. But they go from marriage to children and a surprise in a matter of a few pages. If this is part of a series, I would be interested in reading a full length story on either the H's siblings or his child. This is book 1 and it was written 2-3 years ago.
There is passionate, quick lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 3 out of 5 if that.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and a tad of spice. I did enjoy the story and would recommend it.

You know going in, that it depends on the author how well a novella may turn out, but to only give us Part I. Be warned you are only getting the first part of the story. Rating on the story alone to the point it ended, it was fantastic. What upsets me is the original Part 1 was written about 2013. This is 2020 and we still don't have Part II. Why put a story with a cliffhanger in a bundle and in seven years we are still waiting for the second part?
The development of the character's was awesome, the character's felt so real, I was agonizing right along with them. This was such a unique story line, that I was very impressed with the author.
The lovemaking was so beautiful, not the erotica type, but somewhat descriptive. Heat level 4.25 out of 5. They make love in same room their children are in and that was unsettling to me.

There were typos in this volume, but I don't care I found the first two stories captivating.
The Crusader, I guess most would consider this a slow start, but I found the archaeology fascinating. Rory is looking for the Jesus' Crown of Thorns in Nahirya and after fourteen months has about given up hope. Until they happen upon a buried knight from the third crusade. Sir Kieran had been perfectly preserved. When Kieran's family wants to reclaim the crusader to put in their family vault, Rory has a hard time letting go. She follows him, and even goes so far as to break into the hospital morgue because she feels compelled to say goodbye. She even goes so far as to kiss him, and then she slumps over him in drunken exhaustion and when she wakes up a short time later the knight is alive. Thus starts the adventure of a medieval knight in modern day. The book ends on a cliffhanger.
Kingdom Come, both Rory and Kieran wake up in Kieran's time. We are then treated to a modern day woman trying to find her way in this time before indoor plumbing... bugs, smell, unsanitary conditions. I like the realistic take on this time period.
I like how the characters play on each other's strengths and weaknesses, and I really believed in their love. Kieran started as Rory's accomplishment, and then she fell in love with the real man. It was believable... well, I mean, the relationship. The suspended animation, of course, was far fetched for reality, but not for a time travel novel.
The Immortal Sea was a short story, and I didn't like that as much. Keira is a police officer, and in one scene she shines a light on a park to make sure no homeless people are sleeping there. Goodness, let the people sleep. Keira meets up with the son of Poseidon who would have to give up his immortality for love. Their love happens kind of quick, I think this would have been a better fleshed out as a novel.
Echoes of Ancient Dreams was an actual time travel. When Destry travels to Ireland after her ex left her at the altar, she meets Colin, a huge Irish guy who is a professor at Trinity. Colin specializes in Celtic Folklore and when Destry starts to hear voices and have dreams, she asks the professor for interpretation of the Irish language. It turns out, both Destry and Colin are destined for greater things and they've known each other a long, long time. I liked this story, but it left me with some questions. Such as when they go back and time to stay, what happens to their families? Destry's friend was left waiting in the car when they were thrown back in time, and they never returned. I think this would have been much better as a novel as well.
I love this author and her stories, she has so many of them. I plan to work through all of her collection.

I really grew to hate the main character in the first two books, Rory. A petulant, whining, crying, hard-headed little beeyotch! She used people for her own needs in the first book. All she did was cause trouble in the second book.
(I did not read the other two books in this bundle as they are not "my" genre)
With that being said, I grew mortally sick of the author's description of people's eyes. Yes, we remember that so-and-so had ice-blue eyes the first time we read it. And "gem-like" eyes had me chuckling and remembering a brooch of my sisters, of a genie's head with little wiggly rhinestone eyeballs.
*SPOILERS* I hated how Rory used Ben for comfort, and I began to hate him because of his unfailing love for her. I also hated that she and Kieran stole the money of the traveler in the airport. I can see why they needed his passport, but I didn't like that they threw out his billfold.
In the first book, sometimes Rory has chestnut colored hair, other times it is "long blonde". We had undies that changed from white boy shorts to white lacy ones. And I got really tired of hearing how "massive" all of Sir Kieran's parts were. The premise of the story was good, but it became irritating the more I read. I ended up skimming a lot of the first story, with its abrupt teaser ending. The second story was slightly better, but not much.

I loved the Crusader. The characters were full and lovely. The plot was original. I love what happened to Prince John! The "barbarians" were heroes and you just never knew what was going to come next.
The Celtic at the end was horrible. I almost gave this book a one star review it left such an awful taste in my mouth. Then I remembered that it wasn't the book I was reviewing. The characters are shallow caricatures, not likeable. Dialog is stilted. Plot ridiculous. The constant "translating" was off-putting. The ending chapters were porn for no reason that furthered the story. I felt like I was being punished for enduring to the end.
Please remove the Celtic part. You very nearly ruined the Crusader for me and definitely killed the glow I had from the lovely ending. I'm still angry about that.

Nothing defeats the power of love!
These stories by Kathryn LeVeque shows that most poignantly! Of all the time travel romances I have read The Crusader and Kingdom Come I consider the best of their genre!! At the same time I felt like something was left undone and unsaid. And what about Bud? My question is how his story changed from the one depicted at the end The Crusader. The fact that a possible ancestor had a role in the return to the future by his abduction of Lady Have while serving the evil Prince John and is reborn as a close friend esteemed colleague merits a tale! I am a LeVeque junkie and want more!

Really wonderful collection
I love time travel and the 4 books in this collection really were original stories. If you like time travel books, these will not disappoint. I would love to read a sequel to Echoes of ancient dreams. I really didn't see this story unfold as out did. Totally awesome!

Great story! Couldn't put it down! Highly addictive!
I started this book and although I try to limit my voracious reading until nighttime this story haunted me throughout the day. The collection gives you a taste of her different series and each one was as captivating as the last. At the end I was consumed with continuing the series because I HAVE to find out how this will end!

Great stories and characters
If you like Le Veque but want to try something a little bit different, then these books are a great choice. Very different twist on the stories with the different periods of time.

Kathryn has done it again!
I love Kathryn Le Veque works!! It's a rainy day in Georgia as I sit in my rocking chair by my window with the fireplace warming my toes, my puppy in my lap, and I am cuddled up with one of Kathryn ' s novels! Life is wonderful!

GREAT STORIES
There are several stories and they are all captivating. Especially the first story. It's the first time I read a story that started in the old time period, went into today then back again. Very well written.

Wonderful
What wonderful written stories. I enjoyed the first two with Rory finding her knight and being his love not once but twice. Is there another book with them back together on the 21st century with Dane being their descendent
What wonderful written stories. I enjoyed the first two with Rory finding her knight and being his love not once but twice. Is there another book with them back together on the 21st century with Dane being their descendent

Good book
This book started out slow I put it down often. I came back and it was amazing. I was so engrossed I could hardly put it down.

This is an excellent time-travel romance, starting with The Crusader and continuing with Kingdom Come.
The Crusader. (354)
Dr. Rory Osgrove is part of an archeology expedition searching for the Crown of Thorns. In the course of the dig, they discover an ancient corpse which turns out to be Sir Kieran Hage, a knight from the Third Crusade. Long story short, Sir Kieran was mortally wounded in 1192. An alchemist gave him a potion to put him in a state of suspended animation from which he can be awakened by a kiss from the one who loves him best. He is also given a potion to heal his wound.
Kingdom Come. (294)
The second part of the story deals with the Crusade, King Richard the Lionhearted,, the Crown of Thorns (aka 'the diadem of Christ') and Prince John who will go to any lengths to get the Crown of Thorns.
I did not read the two shorter offerings because (1) I was not interested in the subject matter, and (2) they appeared to be excerpts from full-length books or teasers for other series.

Annoyingly 50/50
I love this author’s books, and while I loved the time travel romance of this one, I was sadly disappointed. It’s a great tale, and a clever twist regarding Kieran’s arrival in the 21st century. Rory is likeable, totally focussed on her work, and endearing. There is much to love and enjoy in this incredible tale and the love that grows between the two.
Then things start to change in Book 2.
Rory becomes arrogant and stupid on the one hand, and a whining, annoying harpies on the other with her constant complaining. She’s supposed to be an intelligent woman, highly educated, and an expert on the medieval period. She has experienced the need to guide a Medieval English knight through a modern life that has more restrictions and is devoid of the rules or permissions of his own time. When SHE arrives in his time, all that intelligence, knowledge, and experience just flies out the window. She ignores his instructions.
Life and travel was uncomfortable? She’s an archaeologist, used to roughing it for long periods on dig sites! With bugs and dirt, no bathrooms, tents, camp beds, and camp food. I found these actions and behaviour unfathomable and not fitting with Rory’s character.
She ignores Kieran’s instructions and warnings at every turn and does not learn from the consequences. The result in the end was devastating.
Never before have I experienced so thoroughly an enjoyable and engrossing read that turned into utter disappointment and irritation, with the books of a much loved author.
Do read them but be prepared to suppress the urge to throw the book at a wall...I read on my kindle but the urge was great!

This is the best book I think that I have ever read.so my h love is in the hold book😄😄😄😄I am so happy that I have found so much love 💘in your books but this book has opened. Up a wonderful world to me.I fell as if I have found a new world. I recall reading The Crusader and Kingdom Come previously but enjoyed reading the story of Rory and Keiran again, although the location (Nahariya) was described alternately as being in Israel, Turkey and Syria (an editing issue that I thought would have been seen before publishing in this limited edition reissue). The other 2 stories in this bundle were ones that I don't remember reading previously - Part 1 of High King, and The Immortal Sea. Have enjoyed all of Ms. Le Veque's Medieval Romances - pleasurable hours of reading!
