Celebrated Crimes and Their Solutions

Rate this book
A delightful collection of notorious crimes and criminals from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Bootleggers, murderers, train robbers, and safe crackers all have their crimes profiled along with the means to their capture. Though forensics was a new science at the time, you may be surprised at how clever the cops were in pursuit of their prey.

For the first time, this long out-of-print volume is available as an affordable, well-formatted book for e-readers and smartphones.

For fans of vintage crime

There are many interesting cases of crimes in the past in this book. Some of them involve bank robberies and train robberies. A few involved outright murder, but there were also a few that involved counterfeiting. So these are not gory crimes. They were solved by savvy detectives in the old-fashioned way, with physical exertion and brain power.

The book was published without any effort to clean it up after it was scanned, resulting in a great many errors. This causes confusion unless the reader can figure out that "dock" is really "clock" and "dear" is really "clear" and so forth.
