Daydreams of an old flame’s lips, or cuddling up with a new romance, won’t untaint a poisoned love. In Trigger, Selena Harris eludes her problems by running to her fantasies, but reality is always on her tail. Daydreams can’t keep her safe from the dangers of love, jealousy, and heartbreak, or from living out her destiny. You may finish this sexy, drama-filled novel wondering what triggers your dreams.
First and foremost, I would like to say that I’m extremely happy with the way this book ended. Instead of the usual fairytale-like happily ever after, the author presented us with what could be considered the unfortunate reality that not everyone gets the woman/man that they thought they would end up with. The thing that I can appreciate most about this book, is that it is a much needed lesson for women. It shows us that that we don’t have to settle for a mediocre love, or accept anything less than what we’re worth from a man, no matter who the man may be or what role he plays in our lives. In this case, the main character Selena is disrespected by her lover, her brother, and an old flame, all of whom hold significant weight in her life. During our reading we witness Selena’s struggles, frustrations, and the confusion that she tussles with while dealing with this men, on top of her own problems. The build up and background of this work leads up to a page turning climax that will leave you with a dropped jaw, and a sense of pride as Selena makes it clear that her priority is her own mental health, as she stands firm in her decision by removing anything toxic out of her life.
This story had so much angst it was difficult to find a rhythm. Lena and Alonzo were a couple, and not a couple. I could never make a clear love connection between them. And Selena was as flighty as a bumblebee on a flowers stem. I did not like either the hero nor the heroine. The story was nice and long. I would have liked more character development for the main characters. I have no clear visual of any of the characters. The ending was unexpected. Overall a good story 4.0 stars
Lena and her triggers were an interesting concept. Her attempt to find her happy place, her place of peace. She wanted to find her happiness with other people, not realizing that she had to be happy with herself first. Alonzo was a good guy who made a bad decision that he ultimately had to pay for. Forgiveness is a hard thing to do, especially when you feel betrayed.
Trigger was very well written and relatable to my life. It's really hard to convey such a powerful concept about living for yourself, making the right decisions for yourself and not others, and doing what makes you happy. We are human and get so caught up with life we forget the main ingredient to happiness... which is making yourself happy. Faith Underwood captured that message 100%. I recommend that everyone should read this book. I love how she captured the key points to a successful relationship as well....Not just between boyfriend and girlfriend but also between siblings, friends, and parents & children. Main key points I saw were: Trust, Honesty, Forgiving and Forgetting! Trigger was an extraordinary must read ! ❤️
"Trigger" by Faith Underwood, is a fast paced, contemporary, sexy love story. It has romantic drama, humor and suspense. The characters are everyday people that everyone can relate to. Each will remind you of someone you know. Of course the plot had unexpectedly twist. I really enjoyed this book and I think others will, too.
As a bookworm, I thoroughly enjoyed Trigger as some of the transitions from one story to the next reminded me so much of men and women I knew from my culture and community. i could relate with the internal conflicts of the main characters as she continued to find love and happiness while still dealing with the hauntings of her former lovers and past relationships. It was a fun, suspenseful, and entertaining read. I highly recommend ❤❤
