As a parent of a kid with sensory integration issues, I know I am not the target audience for this program guide. I appreciated a few of the diagrams in the early chapters, most notably the 3 stages of self regulation. There wasn't much by way of ideas or adaptations for preschoolers.
My son's occupational therapist introduced this approach to self-regulation during his sessions, and it was extremely effective for him. I chose to read the leader's guide myself to see how I could support my son's attempts to self-regulate now that he's no longer seeing the OT. We still use the "engine" language to talk about how his body feels and whether or not we need to try various strategies to get him in "just right" condition before doing academic work, sitting down to eat dinner, etc. I homeschool my kids, and I can certainly see how the program could be incorporated into a homeschool curriculum.
