I was born and raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Being raised a Witness is different. I am no longer in that religion. I have been disfellowshipped. It's not like that is all this book is about, but the religion colors my view throughout the book. This book is about my life. This is a series of short stories that happened to me that are frightening, happy, sad or funny. Sometimes I vented and sometimes I just wrote a fun story to clear my head.
Some of these stories contain mental, physical and sexual abuse.
I am marking this as fiction. After all, it is just my viewpoint and my view is skewed by my experiences and memories. Maybe I made it all up, and maybe I didn’t. I am sure some will swear I made it all up, but this is my view and my perception.
Michelinda thank you for writing this beautiful story! I was raised a JW too, in fact married the whole nine yards. People don’t know the Jehovah’s Witnesses go as far as shunning their own children, the elders sexually interrogate children & prohibit their education. This is addressed to my new exJW graphic novel CULT GIRLS. It’s a little different than this. But reading is really important when your growing & trying to escape the slavery of a cult. I love reading others memoirs and learning about other cults too.
WONDERFUL BOOK! Thanks for writing this Michelinda. Cult Awareness is so important. This religion hinders children's education, restricts them from extracurricular activities and some children are shunned, sexually interrogated and the list goes on. It is terrible parenting to show them violent armageddon pictures and tell them the vast majority of humanity is being destroyed any day. I am the author of the new graphic novel Cult Girls, there is sample pages in the pictures on Amazon. It is a fun, comedy of being raised and MARRIED in the Jehovah's Witness cult.
