Book Review For: Sway by M.J. Woods 'Sway' by M.J. Woods is Book Two in the "The Amped" Series. This book continues the story of Aidan and Alexis from the First Book "Balance". I do feel these books have to be read in order so that you can enjoy and understand their story. Also know that the books ends with a cliffhanger to set up the next book in their story.
In this book Alexis and Aidan are together but still fighting the past and the present. Aidan is protective and all Alpha as can be. Aidan has lost his little brother when he was younger and I think allot of his protective side comes from wanting to keep Alexis safe. As we learned in the first book and seeing now Aidan hasn't done a true relationship with a women and not one like Alexis for sure. But Alexis is a strong independent women who tries to stay that way and at times it is an issue for them since both have reason they are the way they are.
I really enjoyed this series, the characters and Aidan and Alexis story. I can't wait for the next book!

An awesome continuation of the series involving Alexis and yummy, controlling, alpha, Italian speaking, sexy as hell Aidan! The relationship between these two is extremely hot, and there is a lot of intrigue with the storyline itself. And, I suspect there is a lot about Aidan that we don't yet know.

I did have a bit of trouble when diving into this second story as it had been awhile since I read the first book. I couldn't remember a lot of the details around the backstory. I prefer (and appreciate) when an author who is writing a series gives a little something something to us at the start to remind us of key plot points that have transpired.

I'll definitely be going back for Book 3. The writing is engaging, the plot captured my attention, and the H and h are a schmexy treat for those who love their steamy romances.

***Please note this is book 2 of the Amped trilogy and Book One Balance should be read first.***

MJ Woods has done it again. Book Two in the Amped series and this book yet another "what the hell did I just read?" Though now I have a better grip on, ok back up; I have a better gist of who is who, barring the multiple twists, turns, appearances of characters from nowhere and not being able to figure out who's lying and who is telling the truth in relative terms. Yes it's like that. The book will knock your socks off. I ate this in one sitting.

Let's talk about Aiden- yep not happy with him at all in this one. My problem with Aiden is he withholds not only the truth, but gives as little information as possible which left Alexis very vulnerable when clearly she needed more than she was given to at least protect herself. Alexis did make me a little peeved early on because I wanted to see Aiden belly crawl and grovel is 8 pack abs off. Much too forgiving. I don't care how good he is in the rack. Aiden uses sex as a distraction. And nuts if Alex is too dang blind to catch onto that little trick. I'm going to leave them alone for a while and talk about Aiden's friends.

I loved them. Daryl Oats! What a classic. Smart, both intelligently and sassy mouth to no end. And then there is Nate (oh be still my heart) who works for NASA doing something secret. The three guys were college buds and when Alexis commits to visiting her late husbands family for a weekend and they live near where his family has a home, Aiden decides to go along, inviting Daryl and his parents as well. He wants them to meet Alexis. Daryl has a surprise for Aiden when he invites Nate. And when Alexis brings her late hubs sister to the house, Daryl is smitten. Aiden's parents are delightful and welcoming as are his friends. It's a much needed get away after the horrible things that happen at home before they left. Alex doesn't know that Aiden is playing both ends against the middle.
And also when she finds out that her client is Aiden's Uncle, she's not very happy but clams up on it.

Aiden's continual need to fix and "I don't need any help" wore my raggedy butt out. I wanted to clock him, because frankly in this story; MJ has written so many twists you don't know who is on whose side. The good guys and bad guys all look alike. That is except for two people, Aiden's nemesis and Stella's father, John Ireland and Stella. No man is an island Aiden and someone is going to have to bail your butt out of this mess in book three and I can hardly wait to see who. He leaves Alexis when she is vulnerable and she has a run in with Mr Ireland himself in Stanton, while Stella is cornering Aiden in NY. He goes there to try and close a deal to shut the Irelands out and down.
All these things remain to be seen in book three.

In summation: MJ you did it again! Hard to believe this is your second book! I love the playlist and thanks for throwing my Dave in there. Aiden is trying and digging himself a hole. Alexis is beneath it all tough and I know will summon her super powers to figure out what's going on here. I want to see more Daryl and Pam (that's just me) and let's have a book about Nate.(!?!) This book tops the charts for romantic suspense and buckle up for the second ride of your life!! I cannot wait for book 3.
Great book MJ!!! I loved every single bit of it.

A side note: the steam level is off the charts in this one...

I had never heard of M.J. Woods before reading this book. Now I find myself researching the author and looking for more titles by her. This book was absolutely captivating and I can't wait to get my hands on more. Thank you to netgalley.com for offering up an ARC for me to read, even it did take me awhile to get my review posted. Life events have kept me from reading lately but I am getting back into and plan to review a lot more. Again, thank you for the opportunity to read this and other titles before they are released. And thank you to M.J. Cook for writing something so amazing.

Way better than the first book, this one delves more into the relationship between these two lovestruck individuals.

Alexis is a smart, rational chick who is brought down a peg by her feelings toward Aiden, a controlling, albeit not in a jerkish way, guy who only knows how to treat relationships like business deals. They both teach each other what it means to be in love, all the while dealing with the intrigue of a corporate mystery that turns deadly.

This second book in the series flowed naturally, developing the characters and their relationship nicely. I love to see a strong woman handle an alpha male. I hate doormats, and Alexis is no one's doormat.

The third installment promises to be intriguing.

WOW. Just, wow. This is the second book in the series and they MUST be read in order. This story picks up where Balance ended.

Aiden Pierce is a gazillionaire. He dabbles in many things, has multiple offices, companies, houses, cars, security details in New York and California. His past is still never fully revealed. We get glimpses of the darkness but not full disclosure of his younger years. He is in his hometown to build a safe haven for kids to go to for support, encouragement and an escape from whatever they are dealing with. Aiden keeps people at arms length. He is a bossy, arrogant, take-charge guy who also speaks fluent Italian. Think Christian Grey without the BDSM aspect.

Alexis Greene is a real estate lawyer following in her father’s footsteps. She is intelligent, independent, speaks her mind and doesn’t like decisions made for her without her input.

Aidan is selling off his holdings in California and moving everything to New York. Of course, nothing can go easily. Problems with other parties interested in the land he wants to buy and issues arising with people from his past.

Aidan and Alexis are very involved/together in this book. Aidan has become extremely protective of her. However, she is no doormat and refuses to let him just take over her life. Their chemistry is palpable, the sex scenes intense and scorching. We continue to see Aidan struggle with Alexis’ insistence on independence (and love it at the same time) and Alexis struggle with Aidan’s dominating nature (and enjoy it at times) and watch as they work to figure it out.

Alexis is struggling with the secrets Aidan is keeping when he knows so much about her. Aidan is battling with how much of his past to share with Alexis. He’s terrified of running her off. So, he takes her for a weekend away to meet his parents and his friends, Daryl and Nate. We get to see a completely new side of Aidan when he’s interacting with them. Loved his friends. Hope we get to see more of them.

John Ireland and his daughter Stella continue to be a problem for both Aidan and Alexis.

There are some similarities to 50 Shades of Grey with both main characters as well as many differences but my mind definitely went there while reading this. It is an intense read that once you start you will not want to put down. It is well written, flows well and all the characters are fully developed. I cannot wait for the next installment!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author.

This book is once again about Alexis and Aidan. It picks up from where the first one ended. Aidan is having a nightmare after having left Alexis the previous night and not having taken upon her invite to stay at her place.

Their romance blooms in this second book of the series. Aidan takes further steps by setting up a getaway weekend in Canada where Alexis meets his parent and closest friends. Finally he embraces and expresses his real feelings to her though they have not yet overcome all dangers and their enemies are surrounding them. This part of the story ends with both of them far apart; with Alexis having to face in person one of his greatest enemy and Aidan alone in New York having to face Stella and some business deals at stake.

Once again I found the story too lengthy with the author conveying too many and unnecessary details. At least this time she did not overdo it repeating the same part of the story twice depicting the point of view from both main characters. I think the story could be worked and become shorter without losing the reader's interest at times and by keeping the suspense high.

Sway is the thrilling sequel to Balance. It's even better, with more steam, more suspense and more mystery. Alexis and Aidan start off in a rocky spot, but are able to resolve (sort of) things enough that they are able to move on in their relationship. But, there's someone out there who is bound and determined to make things difficult for them, actually, 2 someones and it drove me crazy knowing that Aidan and Alexis still haven't been able to find their way to an HEA all because of these 2 disgusting people.

I can't wait for the 3rd book, hopefully "coming soon" means sooner rather than later!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Aidan Pierce will stop at nothing to make his family home a better place for everyone. Having Alexis Greene in his life is going to give him complications he wasn't expecting. In order for him to move forward with his charitable ambitions he has to stop the attacks that are happening before someone gets hurt.. He is trying to figure out how me feels about Alexis, before he knows what is happing he is head over heals in love with her. He never though this kind of love existed. Aidan’s past is comes back to haunt him Alexis must decide if she can risk everything for love of a man who has turned her world upside down.

MJ Woods has done it again! I loved Balance, the first book in the Amped Series and couldn't wait for Sway to come out. Lucky for me I was selected to be an ARC reader!! Already loved the characters and they just keep getting better. I love the fact that we get to know Aidan and Alexis' view without rereading the same scene over and over like so many authors do. The dual POV gives such a clear picture of the full story and doesn't make you wonder "What the hell were they thinking?" The mystery keeps building along with the steam and of course the love! Leaves me feeling connected to the characters and wanting more!! I am such an avid reader and this book has it all - unique characters, settings you can actually relate to, lives and struggles of real people. I'm so impressed that this is only the second book from this writer, she is well on her way to a big future. "In grande futuro in avanti!" (Big future ahead!)
