But when his feelings finally deepen to love as they battle family responsibilities and scandalous love affairs he is horrified to discover he has left it too late and there is someone else who has captured her heart. How far is Darcy prepared to fight to make Elizabeth his? A sweet and clean full-length Regency novel
The storyline was good, however my problem with this story was the unlikable characters, mainly Mr. Darcy. He was so severe ALL the time and constantly insulting Lizzy that it's hard to believe she could ever grow to care about him. I did like that once Lydia ran off with Wickham, her father disowned her. More believable for that period.
We have Bingley marrying Jane, Darcy and his cousin Julian Darcy both attracted to Elizabeth, obnoxious Lady Catherine and that snake Wickham all creating troubles. Darcy's his usual cold quiet self, while his cousin Julian is the biggest flirt on this planet. It creates some tension when Darcy warns Elizabeth about Julian and she's not happy with his interference. The two butt heads often. Lydia and Georgiana meet at a picnic at Netherfield and get into a physical altercation bc G still loves him and Lydia wants him for herself. Charles has his ball to celebrate his upcoming wedding and afterwards Lydia eloped with Wickham. That didn't end well and after a character death Lydia is tossed out of Longbourne and sent to Scotland in exile. Mr Bennet put his foot down a few years too late! Through it all only Elizabeth and Jane show that they have been educated in societies expectations. Lydia and Kitty fight each other for everything and its often physical. They treat Mary horribly and think nothing of denigrating her even in public. Mrs Bennet is nasty, conniving, and can't see that Lydia did anything wrong. I'm surprised that Charles and Darcy don't get onto their horses and escape! There is one shocking surprise but its too unbelievable to tell. The reader has to discover it for themselves!
