This is an extremely comprehensive analysis of the Soviet economic system. I read the 3rd Edition which was published in 1986. The data collected and analyzed stops in 1983. The most recent I've seen on Amazon is Russian and Soviet Economic Structure and Performance: 7th Edition published in 2000.

The book starts with the economic snapshot of czarist Russia and transition into industrialization and "building of socialism" under the Stalin regime. The information keeps coming as a historical account as pre- and post-World War II and the economic ramifications of Khrushchev and the eventual stagnation under Brezhnev. After this starts economic planning, pricing, money movement, money allocation and incentives, marketing, investment planning, and a ton of other information. Soviet agriculture, foreign trade, growth and performance, and reform as economic indicators are discussed in their own chapters as well.

This is a heavy read: full of complex charts and graphs with data going as far back as 1885 up to the 1983 cut off for this edition. There's even math equations like the Feldman formula ( a really long differential formula for consumption and gross national product values), Marx's labor theory of value (V¹=c¹+v¹+s¹), input-output model, the Barsov-Miller hypothesis, and other technical factors I had to look up to somewhat comprehend.

I enjoyed reading it and learned what I could. I know for sure most of it went over my head but majority of it I was able to follow. Thanks!
