More of a sociological history of gourds and their uses rather than a botanical explanation of how to grow them well (although there is that to some extent). Quite meticulous, the author is unquestionably a certified gourd head. If you're interested in the history of gourds, there's a lot to learn here, but if you're more interested in learning best practices for growing them, I would look elsewhere and use this more as a supplement.
