When a soldier assumes power he promises to clean up society, but falls prey to the same corrupting forces. Nkem Nwankwo is one of the best known first generation literary voices in Nigeria and was active in the Nigerian arts scene and academy in Nigeria and later in the US. He wrote novels and plays and is best known for his novel Danda (1964).
