Twelve-year-old Pooja has never done anything this crazy in her life – stealing a book, lying or skipping classes – OMG! Who has she become? Pooja is the perfect student, the perfect daughter with the perfect grades. But this is what happens when your parents send you packing to an international boarding school without your permission!
A few years ago a Magic Man told Pooja, “Soon your life will change. The curse of the Age of Darkness will only disappear if you help unravel the mystery inside a hidden temple.”
This is ludicrous! – “How can a 12-year-old save the world, when she can’t even save herself?”
Right now she is facing her own crisis – Firstly, Natalie, the culprit who exiled her from Bangalore, and her crazy, troublesome friend, Reet arrive at her school. Secondly, what mystery is lurking beneath her school – after all it is an ancient fort! Ghosts, vampires or even murderers may be roaming those grounds.
Pooja investigates one night and finds her Deputy Head, Mr Vijay Singh with two British researchers. “Where are they coming from and what secret diary are they talking about?” Is the Universe telling her something when the secret diary literally lands at her feet! When explosives and fireworks go off at the same time, Pooja realises meditation or chanting mantras is not going to solve her problems.
She has to use her magic powers and follow the cryptic codes to find the truth. But can she save the school on time?
'The Forgotten Fort' by Kripa Dever is adventurous story of a twelve year old girl Pooja. Being almost a teenager, Pooja is at revolt against almost everything. She hates her parents, she hates her brother, she hates being at home and contributing in household activities etc. She just loves to be with her friends especially Reet, a ten year old living in same society where Pooja lives. Reet can be said as sister in arms of Pooja in the revolt. The beginning of the novel was very convincing because of these two characters and the way author conveyed their mindsets.
One fateful day and a mischief puts Pooja and Reet into a deep trouble and despite all their efforts the sisters in arms gets separated as Pooja's parents send her to a boarding school. Author here again does a tremendous job in portraying Pooja's initial hatred to the school and which eventually turns into her liking of the school and later leads to the discovery of her school as an old fort and the dark secrets associated with it. After these discoveries the book becomes a magical, adventurous and thrilling roller coaster ride.
The character development and situation building was good. What I liked most about the book is the author's sense of imagination and the pitch perfect representation of a teenager's mindset. The only problem I think was that the book takes more time to come to the point in some of it's parts.
The story is narrated by Pooja, a 12 year old. Pooja and Reet are best friends, but one day due to an unfortunate incident, Pooja and her brother are sent to Boarding school. After sometime Reet also joins same team. Their school is known for its charity activities , but Pooja and Reet find out that there are some shady dealings going on
Will Pooja be able to stop the shady dealings? What is happening in the background of charity activities by the school ? Read to find out
The first half of the book was interesting, it was easy to relate to Pooja. Reet is so funny. The second half is complicated, I have read Enid Blyton books in my childhood, but still the Magic Man's story it didn't sit right with me. Maybe it is not a book for me.
Author Kripa Devar did a good job, you will find that all characters are playing in front of you. The narration was very good, you can feel the bonding of 12 years old Pooja & 10 years old Reet. Author has also tried best in character development and situation building.
About Story: Pooja is the main character of this book, There are two friends Pooja & Reet like bestie. Due to some issues, Pooja went to boarding school. In starting she was not liking her school but she starts liking it because
I think I should reveal the story. Read this book, I hope you will like it.
The book "The Forgotten Fort" by Kripa Devar is full of teenage drama and Shararatain with a tinge of mystery in it. Though it feels fit for children and teenagers, I personally liked it. It is very light and entertaining. The author has introduced the characters very well and building up of a great friendship between Pooja and Reet and their relationship going through ups and downs. the events and situations are very well thought and put down. It is a perfect book where one finds two best friends on a journey together to reveal truth and mysteries. it is a good treat for the mystery lovers with a tinge of fantasy, not only that it also involves India history.
