He wants out, but with each move, he's deeper in the game. The streets are no place to live a life. And Black knows that better than anyone. After a drug heist gone bad, Black and Buzzy are hellbent on selling off all the pills they thought they'd gotten away with. All they want now is to unload the narcotics and live the high life by spending the cash and getting out of the business. But that's easier said than done... The two men they lifted the drugs from are making demands, and Black and Buzzy can't turn away. Now, Black is faced with a new challenge, falling for Layla, a chick he just can't have. After all, she's married to the man who's doing time for Black's heist. Black can't possibly take everything from him. With the cops on his tail, a desire to bail on the game, and a guilty conscience, Black must act carefully. But will his next move involve another man's wife?
Tony Black has lived his life on the wrong side of the law. Like many before him, he believes one last score can get him out. So what does he do? Yes, of course, he robs a pharmacy with 3 career criminals who also happen to be addicts. What could go wrong?
This book is classified contemporary romance, but the romance was the least interesting part about the story. Would have loved for the author to have resisted that ploy and just gone all in with the redemption ARC. Still enjoyed overall, foul language not withstanding, particularly the character interactions.
I'm not sure if this was supposed to be funny or not but these characters had me laughing. Four addicts trying to pull off a heist at a pharmacy. Of course they messed it up. Black was supposed to be the smartest one but wasn't. He meets and falls for Vic's wife after he gets caught and goes to jail. He just took over the man's family. Lenny was a fool from the start so it doesn't end well for him. But Buzzy is the funny one throughout the story. I actually kind of liked this one. I'm interested in seeing what else can happen.
While this book centered around a serious situation, I found it to be funny as well. While Black was the serious one of the duo, you couldn't help but to laugh out loud a time or two at the antics of Buzzy. Black tries to turn his life of crime around but figures that one last job would get him set to do so but asthe saying goes, sometimes its best to quit while you're ahead.
I voluntarily readed an advanced readers copy if this book in exchange for an honest review
As ALWAYS, Tamicka Higgins is a Beast with the Pen......start of a GREAT Series!👌 As a matter of fact, the writing is Reminiscent of Author Eric Jerome Dickey.....I Enjoyed the style of Miss Higgins latest story!✊ Looking forward to Book 2.....the next installment in the 'Trapped in the Game' series!😙😙😙😙
The book was good. It seemed like a short story a lot different from the Side Chick series. I gave it a three stars. I liked the story but it seemed rushed. I hope to find out more about the characters.
It looks like Black wants out but he's forever trapped because it's always going to be something. I was sure Vic would know what was up by the end but soon he will. What's the next move?
Please don't bother with downloading this book. Normally I can read a GOOD book in a day; however this book, I literally forced myself to finish ( 3 weeks because it was that slow paced & uninteresting). I can't recommend this book to read
I just could not get into this book although I tried to book starts off very slow and by the time I got said 30% it didn't pick up so I didn't finish it
Story is filled with betrayal, guns and love. Greed will get you put six feet under. Sometimes wanting a better life will cost you dearly. It's got to be a part 2!!!
Thank you Ms. Higgins, you've done it again. I can't wait to read part 2. Black is that guy we all know. This story keeps you reading. I haven't slept at night, seriously. You know that book that you know would make a great movie. Well that's because Tamicka Higgins wrote it.#Lifetime Fan.
