In the dark of night, you have awakened to an epiphany. A thought so enlightening, so odd... it startled you.
And what do you do then? Do you jump up and run for a pen and paper before the idea fades? Or do you roll over, shut your eyes, confident that such an idea will be remembered in the morning?
This book is a collection of late night awakenings, brought to print for your reading pleasure. Are mine as eerie as yours? You decide.
C. Henry Martens has a rich and varied life that has included raising cattle, winning at poker, delivering babies in backwoods cabins, and seeing the fantastic. He and his wife play in the outdoors with passion. He likes to build stuff, do art, garden, and has a special interest in animals. For him, a good, cheap wine or a few tequila shots, old friends or complete strangers with something to say, and a great landscape to view... sublime. As an author he provides several points of view, and the unexpected.
I enjoy a good short story and was rewarded 15 times in this book. Martens crafts tales that vary from amusing to disconcerting. All were entertaining. This book flew by too fast. Hoping to see more of Martens' work along these lines!
