This final book in the series, follows on where The girl by the River left off and Follows Tessa Barcussy’s journey as she tries to find her place in life.
Tessa has grown up always in Lucy’s shadow, but she has a special gift, one that she has grown up being told not to use, but deep down Tessa knows that her destiny is to use her gift to help others.
Such a beautiful story I really didn’t want the book or the story to end.
I think I'll call 'Born to be Trouble' a waiting room book because I've sat in a lot of waiting rooms recently and this story of Tessa, Freddie, Kate, Lucy, Paul, Art and Granny Barcussy kept me occupied instead of worrying. The fact that I haven't forgotten their names says a lot about the quality of the writing. Poorly written characters are instantly forgettable . I carried on reading and finished the book because it is very well written and has clearly drawn, empathic characters. It is the third book about this family and the people do feel real. This is the sort of story I would probably have loved to read in my teens, not so much now. It's a romance with a lot of spiritualist content and a predictable happy ending. Will I pickup another story by this author? Probably not. Sorry Sheila Jeffries, nothing wrong with your writing it's just not my preferred genre. I did read the 2017 paperback, not the kindle edition.
Wow this book and the other 2 in the series are absolutely incredible, I didn’t want it to come to an end. I laughed and cried, in fact I didn’t just cry I sobbed.
Such a heartwarming story, but it includes my favourite place Glastonbury and also some of the characters have the the gift of clairvoyance and healing.
The books span 4 decades, following the Barcussy family, each book takes up where the previous book left off.
The characters are amazing, I love Freddie and Tessa along with Granny Barcussy. If Sheila Jeffries is looking for any book ideas I would love a spin off telling Starlinda’s story.
This wouldn’t normally be a book I would choose, my Mum recommended it and I am so glad I read it.
I didn't realise that there were two books before. However, this stands alone even if you haven't read the other two Barcussy novels. A bit different than usual. Not sure it's comparable to Poldark as the blurb on the back suggests, but I really enjoyed it and look forward to any further stories from this author.
