Once I picked up this title, I put all other reading aside and read it straight through. I had already discovered Wayne and Danielle Fenton through their travel/photo blog TrekSnappy http://www.treksnappy.com/the-kungsleden when we made a spontaneous decision to hike the full length of the Kungsleden (King's Trail) in northern Sweden. Their travel book (as opposed to their travel blog) gave more detailed info on the amenities along the way, including many charts and tables of distances, elevations, costs and sample travel plans, which was the main reason for purchasing the book. Their photos are lovely (better on the blog), their youtube videos are engaging and they do a great job of describing each part of the trail. We were at a loss at what to expect for resupplying, mid-trail boat hiring and the associated costs and all three concerns were well-described and documented.
One downside of the writing is that they are over their heads in their gear analysis. They try to come across as experts in backpacking gear but, with their packs weighing 20+ kg (45 lbs), they are not really in a place to advise others about what to bring. My pack, for example, is 7 kg (16 lbs) [before adding water bottles] for the exact same trek - 2/3 of their pack weight. I also disagree with their belief that they are 'fast' in their 21 day trail time as the FKT (fastest known time) is 6 days, 2 hours (Sondre Amdahl) and many other truly fast times have been recorded. They are simply weekend warriors but perhaps this makes their trek(s) seem accessible to even the most ardent couch potato.

My Kungsleden bible!! All you need to know - especially if you are running/hiking from South to North.

Very useful book when hiking Kungsleden. Especially from South (Hemavan) to North (Abisko). Would highly recommend!

Only useful for people hiking from South to North; information not super well organized or presented. More of a travel narrative than a planning tool. There are better options out there.

This book is more about how to prepare for any trail. It is not very tailed towards the Kungsleden.
