Hamilton Dinger has never gotten along well with Starry Knight.
Only Starry Knight knows the real reason, and the real danger, when it comes to working alongside him.
When a new demon monster takes over the phone lines of the city, Starry Knight races off to help her co-defender. As they fight together under the moonlight, Starry Knight faces a new test of her power—and a new test of her heart.
This is a short story set between Book 2 and Book 3 of the Starlight Chronicles.

I love this short story, as it gives us some background information regarding Starry Knight, the superhero who was no stranger to death or being alone. In fact she found it strange having to work with an ally, as she was used to fending for herself, but when a demon attacks and she is under threat it is Wingdinger, her ally who saves her life. She was a fallen star, had been Lady Justice, who was saved and marked by the Prince, marked for a new purpose, whilst scorched by an old life, she now had a new body with old memories, a new chance with old enemies. She unlike Windinger remembered her past and her link to the Celestial Kingdom but she was not ready to divulge the information. She was Raiya, Hamilton's nemesis, the student who irked him no end in class and she was dying, her life had been salvaged to give her a chance to redeem herself, but her death was to be her payment. She could not therefore allow herself to get close to Hamilton, no matter how she felt about him! Will these two ever get together? This short story is very touching and explains a bit about Starry Knight's attitude towards Wingdinger!
CS Johnson has added these great "in between" books to the main series and it's been a great idea, especially for those of us who love love the series. I'm a big fan of CS Johnson and eat up any of her writings as soon as I can!!
