The Girl Inside

Rate this book
Greta Kavanagh has an exciting career as an interior designer for some of the most spectacular plantations in Louisiana. Her husband, Jax, owns an established psychiatry practice. Happily married and successful, you could say they have a bright future ahead of them. Of course, some things aren't always as they appear. Jax has a patient, Evangeline, who is obsessed with him. She can't decide whether she wants to love him, kill him, or destroy his life.

Evangeline has a tumultuous personality. She is unpredictable and only has one thing on her mind, abolishing anything that threatens her happiness. As Jax's patient, she does more than confide in him, she falls under his spell, and they have secrets they'll do anything to protect.

Is there more than meets the eye between doctor and patient? Is Jax living a lie?

This psychological thriller, with its numerous twists and turns, raises constant questions throughout the story, such as: Who is this mysterious woman? Where did she come from? Is she dangerous? How is she tied to Jax?

Is Greta a pawn in their game, or is she the queen?

Unputdownable!!! Be prepared to let everything go while you're reading this book. I promise you, once you start it, you will not be able to put it down. So, plan ahead.

This is going to be a hard review to write because I can't say much without giving it away. There's a HUGE twist about halfway into the story that will completely throw you for a loop. There is no way I could have ever seen this coming. The characters are extremely intense, each having their own set of struggles, yet it's these struggles that weave them all together in one way or another. You are really not quite sure what to think about any of them, or what their game is. The author does a fantastic job at keeping the reader guessing in a very suspenseful way. In the second half of the book, things start falling into place. It will BLOW YOUR MIND! I did a big… "Wait! ... What?"

What I love is that you don't have to read to the end before the real action, suspense, and climax happens. It builds the entire time causing each chapter to be even more suspenseful than the previous. That's why I say you cannot put this book down once you open it. There's something happening the whole way through. Hidden secrets surfacing, so pay attention.

All I did was think about this book when I wasn't reading it, trying to put the details together and figure out who is who. Who's telling the truth and who's lying? Who's evil and who's a victim? Who's crazy and who's sane? And who's leading it all? This is definitely one of the most exciting books I've ever read!

I was hooked at chapter one. Whatever you think is going on, you're probably wrong. Talk about a rollercoaster ride of a story. I read this book in about two or three sittings. There is a HUGE TWIST about halfway through. I can't say much without ruining it and I don't believe in spoilers, so you will just have to read it to find out.

There's Jax, then there's his wife, Greta, and then there's another...Evangeline! She is the one who most intrigued me. What an exciting character! I couldn't wait to find out what she was going to do next. The author does not reveal exactly who she is (other than Jax's patient) until further into the story. That's what makes it so intriguing. And that's what keeps you reading!! There's never a dull moment in this book.

That's all I can tell you. Just be prepared to not want to put it down once you open it. And brace yourself for a few shockers! This is the third book I've read from this author and I love her. She's a good storyteller but even better-there's no filth in her books. No crude talk or explicit sex scenes. Just pure suspense and intrigue!

A twisty psychological thriller that had me guessing all the way through. I was at the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was telling the truth, who was lying and how the story would ultimately unfold. Jack and Greta are the perfect couple. Jack runs a successful psychiatry practice and Greta is an interior decorator. When the couple moves into a fabulous new house and Greta discovers a diary, things get really interesting. Who is Evangeline, the owner of the diary and how is she connected to Jack? What exactly is Jack into? A real page turner that will keep you up all night.

Amazing read once again!!!

I loved this book!! Greta is a super intelligent, hard working girl with nothing to lose with a great family and husband that stands by her side. Evangeline is a crazy girl that tries to destroy Greta's life and wants her husband. Does Greta win in the end or does Evangeline? You have to read this book. Another great book Karyn Masters

Wow! I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days. There's a lot going on here that keeps the reader guessing. The main characters are very complex and you're not sure who to believe. Who's the "good guy(s)" and who's the "bad guy(s)?" Once the "secret" of what's going on is revealed, the story gets even more exciting! I definitely recommend this book. Be prepared to stay up reading late into the night! :)

Wow!! I did not see this coming at all. This book is full of mystery, intrigue, and one hell of a twist that you will not see coming. This will hook you from the start and not let up, even on the last page. So get comfy and hang on.

Interesting premise. I totally enjoyed. (I rarely give any books a 5-star rating, but I did this one. I moved right along. Easy to follow. (I despise books with 100's of characters but this one had a good balance.) I recommend!

Interesting premise but the author made it too obvious from the beginning. Anyone who loves thrillers can get to the core of the story after reading just 20% of the novel. Would have liked it more if the author had kept the readers guessing for a little bit longer

Good read

Great suspence, even though I figured out who Evangeline was pretty quickly. The plots were good, and it was worth the read.

Different

Very strange story. I'm familiar with multiple personalities, but never like this. I guess it helped to make a decent story out of it tho

Although entertaining, this book was very unrealistic and I had to laugh at certain parts because they seemed so silly to me. But the characters were interesting and the book held my interest.

Really interesting. I wonder how it is when people have to deal with multiple personalities and this one has the creep factor going for it.

Interesting book and when the ‘twist’ comes, delves into darker emotional territory. Hard to put down and hard to forget
