200 photographs, culled from among some 40,000 taken over the course of thirty years, are accompanied here by poetic descriptions that reveal By'es sensibilities in yet another medium.
This was fine. Had some interesting thoughts on how to view the landscape and the emotive response a natural environment can evoke. Felt a little like an Instagramers rumination over 200+ pages.
Nice. Quite nice. A subtle little volume of landscape and plant images with minimalist, yet gently instructive and focused ruminations. I learned some interesting things about trees of various kinds that I never knew before so that's enough for me to consider this little adventure in landscape literature a success.
It is NOT a how-to landscape or a landscaper's bible. It's about what's out there to see and how you think about seeing it which can be applied to designing landscape as well as appreciating it.
