A real pleasure - this book follows Aaron growing up in Brooklyn from childhood to adulthood - and the ability to leave Brooklyn and his family, to make his own choices. The portrayal of life in a working class home, during and directly after WWII felt very accurate, as did the episodes dealing with the Russian-born father, McCarthyism and its invidious invasions. Much to be treasured here.
