Bear Mountain #20

A Decision for One Bear

Rate this book
Bear shifters Ari and Nikos are attacked in the middle of the night, only to be saved by a group of shifters and taken to find sanctuary in Bear Mountain. Neither of them can believe a place like it could exist—a world apart from the human one where they can be free to be who they are. It almost feels too perfect, and cynic Ari struggles to accept that Bear Mountain could be home… Until the pair finds their mate amongst the residents. Omega Cotton doesn’t want to believe it. He loves Dillon and has set his sights on having the male for his own. While Dillon is away on an errand for the alpha, Ari and Nikos press their case, confusing Cotton’s already raw feelings. When Dillon hears the news that Cotton will be claimed, the bear loses his mind. Dillon lost his heart to Cotton, as well—but he knows the omega deserves happiness. How can Dillon ask Cotton to turn his back on his fate and choose him instead?

Kelex imagines the best boyfriends.

Once again I fell in love with the characters Kelex has created. In this book you also find that gumption and stubbornness are important and undervalued traits. Can I move to Bear Mountain?

I really, really love how this author manages to keep this series fresh. We're at Book 20 for Pete's sake! Amazingly, there is always something new and different, like the twist in this book with the 'scent mix up'. I loved it! I loved Cotton and Dillon together, and I loved Ari and Nikos as a couple. This book was easily cruising to five stars, until they actually all got together. Somehow, in the desire to include Cotton, I feel like the author overcompensated and there was too much focus on him. Poor Dillon got lost in the fray; Ari and Nikos were HIS mates! During sex, it still seemed to be Dillon and Cotton, and then Ari and Nikos. Maybe we just needed a few extra pages to really show them all interacting, ie Dillon with Ari, Nikos with Cotton. The book ended too soon after they got together so, at the end of it, it still felt to me like two couples playing house, instead of a foursome of people who all loved each other. Yes, Ari/Nikos told Dillon they loved him from the first time they say him...but eh... I just didn't feel their mating like I have all the others. I know sometimes couples aren't quite where they should be when their book ends, and we re-visit them in subsequent books, but I needed a little more with this one. 3.5

It'll be interesting to see whose book will be next!

Cotton and Dillion’s purely sexual relationship has grown into something more. But they are not mates, so what happens when their mates appear?

A Decision For One Bear is twentieth in Kelex’s Bear Mountain series. Cotton and Dillon have feeling for each other but are not mates which is fine until Ari and Nikos arrive on Bear Mountain. They have been looking for their third and when their home is invaded and they arrive on Bear Mountain with just the clothes on their backs, their lives change and not necessarily for the better. Kelex has created quite a conundrum. Fate grants you a mate, but what of love? Dillon and Cotton love each other but aren’t mate. Ari and Nikos love each other but are incomplete. I love how Kelex resolves this issue. Love is important and can grow if given a chance and Kelex proves that as these four males find their footing and fight for a family, unconventional but theirs. Kelex gives us a story full of love and honor, hope and despair. I love that mating has to be more in order for this relationship to work. I love Dillon and Cotton’s commitment and willingness to do what is hard because it is right. I love that Ari and Nikos are willing to fight for a future. This story is well written and enjoyable. I love the unexpected turn Kelex took with this tale and look forward to more from this author.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Loved that this book showed evolution in the mindset of the characters. Usually you hear you can't teach an old dog new tricks that is not so for bear mountain. So many new avenues opened in this book that showed possibilities for more than two spin offs. I want to know what going on w that mayor from midnight something don't feel right. I love the new fresh ideas that are being encouraged for those that were seen as less than. All in all if u read this series one can't help but give a standing ovation.

I have been hoping for Dillon's story. He has been a favorite of mine since he appeared. I was also hoping that there would be at least a mention of Cotton finding a mate in a future book. So excited to read this book. I like the nod that Kelex gives to the Project Zed series with the intro to Ari and Nikos. This book had a turn or two that I didn't expect but was by no means disappointed in. If you have started the Bear Mountain series I strongly recommend it.

I can't believe it's over! The final book in the Bear Mountain series, and what can I say other than I LOVED it?!

I have been reading this series ever since it started back in July 2015, and I don't think I could have imagined the journey that Kelex took us on with this series. I've fallen in love with Bear Mountain, with these characters, the relationships, and everything going on.

I've really been looking forward to Dillon and Cotton's story and what would happen and there were some twists and turns in this! It's the first ever foursome in BM and WHEW these guys lit up the sheets! Ali and Nikos are two brother bears who come to Bear Mountain after being rescued by the team working to stop Project Zed. I don't want to say too much and give the twists away, so all I can say is read it! We get a little trip to Midnight, get some answers, and a few more questions as well.

I'm so sad to see this series come to an end, but I'm thrilled and therefore less sad in knowing that we have more of Project Zed still, another spin-off series that will take place in Midnight and give Colm his story, AND we're totally gonna get a Next Generation of BM with some of the kids! I for one can't wait to see if we get the new Joshua's story, been wanting that in the back of my head for months, and to know we might get it?! CAN'T wait.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

Kelex has done it again with this book. I am sad that this the last of the Bear Mountain series but I am loving the new Project Zed series so I will still get to see the characters from time to time. :-) Now with this book I just love it. This definitely a little bit different with it being a foursome but that just mean it is hotter. I been wanting to have Dillon and Cotton's story and damn did I get their story. Ali and Nikos were a nice twist along with more twist in this book. I just love that even if this the last of the Bear Mountain series it just into the Project Zed's series. I am sad that this the last of this series but I am happy with the new series and can't wait to see what happens next.
