The moment that Keys first saw Ivy, it was a moment straight out of the movies. He would have never imagined that every moment since would be a straight up fantasy. Keys had been the typical hood boy for most of his life; selling dope, getting money and getting bitches upon bitches upon bitches. The fact that he had survived shootings and Dream's jealous wrath was a miracle from above, and he grew tired of forcing God's hand. So, last year, he decided to settle down. He quit the dope game and focused on his girlfriend, Dream. Then, one rainy night, he met Ivy, and his life changed. And it wasn't that typical change that leads to a man going astray. If only it could have been that simple. After meeting Ivy, Keys' life literally went from the normal day-to-day, to mystery, fantasia and the realization that forever will be a very long time for him. Ivy, however, is very much living in the real world. She knows that these premature feelings for Keys are just a rebound from her failed relationship with Travis, and she has sense enough to know two things; one, the last thing that she needs to be focused on is a man, especially one with an undeserving, bitch like Dream, and, two, she had never known that she was starving, until she tasted Keys. Despite their incredible connection, both Keys and Ivy take great lengths to distance themselves from this fairytale-like chemistry between them. However, when destiny has designed two people to be together there is nothing that can stop it... except the threat of death. Since the moment they met, Keys had been her superman, and since the moment that she stepped into his life, Ivy had been his kryptonite. From the moment he met her, he felt a responsibility to save her, but what lengths will Keys go to save himself?

This book was different but in a GOOD way! I am interested in knowing what happens with Keys & Ivy...and I'm baffled by Zeke and Dream's deceit. Things are heating up and I'm ready for part 2!!!!
Hummmm....this different yet still similar pattern!!!
So this is different read but still similar with the girl, the main characters making poor decisions and looking so naive, gullible, weak and desperate. Then you have the male lead character who should be all alpha, this big bad wolf yet he is weak. You also have the woman who will play all the games possible to keep her man, and who will do anything imaginary to keep him no matter what. This one needs karma to come for her quick because she is in a destroying streak and although I don't like those, they are actually entertaining. Overall though, it not really that bad, but Kyan, man you didn't need to go out like that .... shoot, this is too much!!!
Her superman and she was his kryptonite This wasn’t what I was expecting. But it was a good read. Keys, what can I say but damn. That strong connection that he has with Ivy is undeniable. Dream and Zeek needs to die. Dream has been lying to Keys since the very beginning and now she’s sleeping with his best friend. Zeek is no best friend I was wondering why he was questioning why Keys about buying a ring. I just hope Kyan isn’t dead. I loved him. It was sad how Keys mother died in her sleep. Travis wasn’t shit for setting Ivy and Kyan. I can’t wait for part 2. Don’t make us wait too long.
I usually finish books by this Author within a day or so, but this one took a bit to get into. The metahuman thing with Keys kept reminding me of something else I read before in urban fiction. I guess being use to the Author's gritty, grimy hood love stories, this took some getting used too. She still gives you the ratchet, because Dream is the absolute worse, Travis too. The story overall was definitely something different for the Author to tap into. Hopefully, since he has this super strength we get some good fight scenes in part 2.
The characters in this book is different but I loved reading about them. Keys had to make a tough decision and it may have cost him his life. Ivy made a great decision on taking the job offer. But her love for Keys may have cost the both of them. I hope the secret between Dream and Zeek comes to light. I hope Steve and his boys aren't too late. Ivy is made for Keys
That was so good I am speechless! Omgoodness! I NEED MORE! Ivy's ex is Theadore's son. I need for there to be a way for Ivy and Keys to be together IT HAS TO BE A WAY!! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR DREAM TO BE FOUND OUT AND I WANT IVY TO TAP ALL OVA HER!! I was hoping Key's mother had left him a note explaining about his dad. I really wasn't expecting this I started this book at three and it's not even six and I'm done! GREAT READ HIGHLY RECOMMEND WHERE IS PART 2!!
Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.... this book was a non stop read for me... I was routing for Keys and Ivy but I also wanted Keys to have that immortal life. Too bad Keys didn’t know he had a Yamp (thot) of a girlfriend who really didn’t have his best interest at heart. I need to read the next installment because I just am not believing Keys is gone... and poor Kyan I’m looking forward to part two, the Valentine boys gotta get revenge on them Jones boys...

Now, I have to admit that I didn’t know what to expect when I first started reading it but it intrigued me. I can say that I’m glad that I continued to read it because it’s addicting. The physical/sexual attraction to one woman versus long life existence of another. I found myself mad and happy about the events happening in this book.....yes Jessica for getting he hipped to something different.
I never thought I would like a Supernatural human story but I fell in love 😍 with these two characters from the very first 2 chapters. Honestly it didn't seem to unreal. It sounded like a guy and a girl both in situations they weren't happy to be in. This is definitely a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️book!
Jessica something new and different I truly and has always been a huge fan and believe me you went to a higher level with this super natural series. I falling for keys and his passion for the unknown Ivy is soulmate who is his poison Ivy for death. Yes incredible juicy and passionate Keys will have his true love.
This book will be one of the best reads you ever read. While reading this book your eyes will be watching it as a movie. It will bounce around like surround sound speakers. The connection between Keys and Ivy was visceral , palpable , intense!!!...the story will seem unbelievable , yet you will believe. Please take a chance and pick up this book.
Well I'll be damn where do I start, poor Ivy went through so much I pray that everything works out. Keys having them superpowers was amazing I just hope its not the end. Dream is a hot damn mess and karma is her name, Zeek suppose to his friend but friends don't that to each other. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!
I thought this story was a fascinating page turner. I liked the characters with the exception of Dream. I found Keys to be an intriguing character with the personality to match. I'm hoping Ivy soon finds happiness despite the troubles she experienced. Their chemistry was well written . The storyline was clever & kept me reading enjoying the fantasy aspect. Great read!
This was a different type of love story that definitely grabbed my attention. I actually like the concept had me thinking about the Hancock movie. I so want Dream to lose everything. Even Zeek need to be dealt with. Poor Ivy has been through so much she needs some peace. This is definitely a supernatural hood romance.
This was something new and different. (Keys can't died. ) I was fascinated by this book. It was suspenseful and romantically dramatized. Please don't kill Keys off. Superman can't died. I can't wait for the next episode. Thanks Jessica for never disappointing your readers
I think this was an interesting read, it was different than expected but I got so tired of the I want her but I can't have her drama, I mean that was the whole book! The book was short as hell too, guess I'll wait for part 2, this author is one who take quite awhile for the next part. Hurry up and wait!
This storyline had a lot of potential, but I felt like there was something missing. The characters were easy to fal in love with, but I got it was all over the place for a authoress of her caliber and I honestly expected more with her veering into the immortal stuff... I gave it 3 stars for the characters and plot, but the execution was poor in my opinion.
I loved this book. I am a huge fan of fantasy and urban books and this was both in one book. Keys and Ivy had a great connection and I loved seeing them react to each other. A damn shame that he had a girl and she wasn't good for him. I am hoping that part 2 will have a happy ending.
Keys sounds like the type of man you can love and deserve to be loved by. To me it should have been Dreams dusty butt in that closet tied up. I am hoping Keys comes back in book 2 and Ivy is in need of blood and Steve gives her some of his blood making her invincible so her and Keys can be together....that's just my wishful thinking.
This was a good supernatural book. Kind of remind me of the movie Hancock. I want Ivy and Keys to be together because of their chemistry but they can't because it could seriously hurt him. Dream need her a$$ beat. I know Keys hurt her but she is just wrong. I wonder if Ivy will learn the truth in book 2. Was Travis in on this? I am ready for book 2.
Omg....wow...I so many questions left open...what the heck happen with Travis...Is keys really dead...and how the heck no one sees how trifling Dream is..got 4 kids and act like they don't exist..I'm surprise her sister hasn't pop up and outted her..I can't wait for part 2
Ok so I didn't read the introduction of this book because it's a Jessica Watkins book and I just knew it would be a banger so I was pleasantly surprised when I seen that it was a paranormal, this was great especially since this was her first, job well done, impatiently waiting on book 2 😁
I was looking for the real fantasy of it all, but just seem like a ghetto comic. I ain't reading a second book just to get answer not worth it. Was no build up wit Ivy and Keys just a feeling of a love so strong...lies Storyline was aight just remind me of the movie Hancock I guess metahunmans don't fit paranormal to me
Baby I’m living this book. Dream and Zeek’s ah need to be caught. I can’t believe he doing his so called best friend like that. What the hell is Ivy and her cousin doing at the club. So is Travis one of the Jones’s or working for them cuz I just know he had something to do with this.
This book was different from others I've read from Jessica Watkins, but it was great. Not like other typical paranormal reads. Read had a great back story and showed character growth. Very well written, a definite must read. Can't wait to see what happens next. I know revenge is about to be dished out asap.
The Jones Boys are back... I like how this story is so urban yet incorporates the supernatural characteristics of a paranormal novel. The author Jessica N. Watkins doesn't disappoint Yes, I would recommend this novel. I'm anticipating the next book,The Cause & Cure Is You 2, is as well written as this one.
Antonio “Keys” Valentine was blessed! Never having been sick a day in his life, he had a loving mother, a thriving business, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. The only toxicity in his life was his longtime girlfriend, Dream. Then, he met Ivy, the runaway bride to whom he was inexplicably drawn. And then he got shot!
