Bestselling author Christopher Lloyd began his career as a journalist with the Sunday Times newspaper. Then, while camping with his family, he had a critical realization: Even with a 1st class degree in history from Cambridge University and experience as a science writer, there was so much about the world he didn't know. So, he set out to write books that zoom out and tell the big stories, opening readers' eyes to how seemingly unrelated events fit together and showing them multiple perspectives on the world, all in highly engaging prose and matched with lively illustration and photography.

Now, with more than 20 books in print, some in over a dozen languages, Christopher divides his time between writing books for adults and children and delivering lectures and workshops to schools, literary festivals, and a wide range of other venues around the world.

If you know me...you'll know I don't spend much time on anything I don't believe has the attributes of quality; purpose; value; artistic merit; or potential. I've spent months helping this one find its place in the state of Illinois.

Recommended for Illinois K-12 learning environments, museums and gift shops throughout the state, history-lovers of all ages and anyone interested in seeing how partnerships can produce extensive resources for dynamic learning, cross-curricular engagement and 21st century learning strategies.

Highly recommend! The historical stories span the entirety of Illinois 200 years, and they were written like newspaper articles. So they were short and to the point which made it easy for my kids to read little parts of it I read the whole thing over to cover and spent half the time I was reading falling down a rabbit hole of history on the internet because I was looking up more details and trying to find out different things and to see if some of those things are still in Chicago or in Illinois in the places where they said they were. It was just a very interesting telling of the history of Illinois, and I really really enjoyed it.

200 is an interesting number...as is 21. Time is not a series of events nor is life. History is in the making today...but herstory is alive and mostly forgotten. That is anotherstory...mystory.
