The second half of the title fits perfectly. Rosenbloom combines childish one liners with stuff that appears to have been gleaned from old Vaudeville routines.
He clearly plagiarizes. He has material of Winston Churchill and what appears to be a joke from The New Yorker...non of it attributed. The jokes may be copyright free, given their age. The lack of attribution still makes it plagiarism.
He also steals from himself, recycling the jokes in other volumes he’s put out. That’s just plain lazy.
I think I originally got this book and others by the same author at one of my school's book fairs growing up. I remember thinking they were the epitome of comedy back then. Of course, I've since found even greater sources, some of which are even the sources of jokes and insults in this very book.
Definitely fun to revisit, and it will probably be making its way into my Little Free Library for another kid to discover.
