"I met my wife - her name is Neung - in a bar in Pattaya. She was only 19 at the time [he was in his sixties then] and very forthright in telling me, in her very first words to me " I think you are too old for me." Needless to say, I then just HAD to persuade her into going out with me. I can be very persuasive if the occasion demands."

Ugh. The guy is a douche. Stopped reading afterwards.
The book is no more than an ugly account of a sex tourist in Thailand. Do not read.

Awful man, awful book. Filled with modern day pedophilia and transphobia. I gave it two stars (instead of 1) because it’s so unhinged that I can’t stop reading it.

The man is clearly an alcoholic and he will just go on these random sidebars that are so hilarious.

For example, The first half of the book is just him ranting about his wife who “took all his money”. I use quotes because he willingly gave it to her, but in typical alcoholic fashion he can’t take responsibility for his actions.

In the middle of this section about him ranting about how you shouldn’t build a mansion for your new underaged Thai wife (duh), he just starts talking about gamma ray bursts, which are the beginning of blackholes. Part of me thinks he was trying to be metaphorical, but I don’t think it’s that deep. The writing is abysmal with incorrect grammar and mistaken repeated phrases. I can’t believe this even got published.

Anyways, I would generally avoid, unless you’re in the mood to hate read something.

Relatively poorly written book about the life of an old dude from America who set up his life in rural Thailand after marrying a 19 year old (he was 59 at the time). The topics are repetitive and the book hasn't seen an editor it seems, but it's also funny because the 19 year old has the American guy build him a house, buy her a car and a motorbike and then takes off. The books is a warning introduction of sorts to other old white men looking to catch and keep a Thai lady. Only available in Thailand. It's still interesting though and I finished it because the topic itself is interesting and helps to understand the phenomena of Thai women chasing rich men.

I bought it for the title and cover at the airport. However, it's a disappointment from the beginning. I persisted through the middle with some effort spread over a couple of days, but then too many typos just made me put it away for good midway.

Not recommended.
