I am one among that lucky generation who was able to stand in a queue in front of the bookshops on the day of the release of the Harry Potter books to buy one of the first copies published and finish reading within twenty-four hours. I am proud to say that I grew up in the same time period when Harry Potter was created.

JK Rowling had to suffer a lot before publishing the first book in this series. Her mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was just 15. Multiple publishers told her that they couldn’t publish her book. Her publisher even told her to write initials instead of her real name, thinking that boys may not read a book by a woman. She was living with her child, solely dependent on the government money and grants.
“JK Rowling had no job. Her only income was the money from the government. She became depressed. She cried because she could not provide her child the way she wanted to.”

Recently, she got into trouble due to her controversial tweets about transgender people. It caused many people to dislike her strongly.

I also can’t agree with many of her controversial remarks. Despite all the unnecessary trouble created by the author, we still love the Harry Potter series because of the amazing manner she crafted a magical world that is way beyond our imagination.

Jennifer Hunsicker beautifully describes the life story of JK Rowling here. After finishing this book, I recommend you watch the movie about JK Rowling.

It’s a very quick overview so perfect if you didn’t know anything about Jo’s life. If you’ve watched the movie or read a biography, this skips over most of the same info.

This tells the story of JK Rowling. I’d say it is geared towards children.
