Charlotte Guillain has written over 100 books, both fiction and nonfiction. Her most well-known titles are the 'George's Amazing Adventures' picture book series, including 'Spaghetti with the Yeti' and 'Pizza for Pirates'. 'Spaghetti with the Yeti' was shortlisted for nine awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Before writing children's books, Charlotte worked as a bookseller, a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, and an editor.
Another fairy tale combo, this time from author Charlotte Guillain. Little Red is headed to Granny's, Goldilocks is simply looking for a place to crash...only this time the right fairy tale girls... end up in THE WRONG HOUSES! Red finds herself with a family of bears (friendly bears, though, as evidenced by Papa wearing a fuzzy sweater! Naturally!) while Goldy ends up in the cottage where somehow the Big Bad Wolfie is wearing Granny's nightie as though it were fashionable! (Can we get a "wolf's whistle"?) Wait till the bears bear down on the lone Wolf! Kids will laugh like the Hey Diddle Diddle Dog to see such sport!!! Fairy tale mashups are another way to say Grim is not a feeling word we use anymore! Three stars Red Rides the lightning with three Rockin' bears!
As with the other books in this series, it mashes up two fairy tales, this one Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood. It also gives a pretty good explanation for how they got mixed up, and has a few writing prompts and a glossery as well as other books to read about the fairy tales. The art is, again, not my favorite style but is vibrantly colored.
A new series that brings fairytales to beginning readers. Each book combines two tales. I appreciated the glossary, background information, and questions in the back.
3.75 stars I have to admit that sometimes in my brain, I get Little Red Riding Hood, and The Goldilocks 3 Little Bears and the 3 Little pigs all mashed up in my brain so this book, makes my head spin. Could be from the headache I can't seem to get rid of, but It was a fun and zippy twist, that if my head wasn't aching would be really really fun!
