{My thoughts} – This book is a lesson based on “This is the Day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
It’s a nice little story that shows that we should all be happy about each day that comes and goes. That God created the days and because of that we should rejoice and be happy in it.
The illustrations in this book match the story within its pages perfectly. The illustrations are colorful and incredibly well designed.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to expand their children’s library. I think it will be the perfect addition for parents wanting to teach their younger children more about God.
Lively and colorful images that simply refuse to be ignored accompany rhyming text that urges youngsters to get up and out of bed and seize the day. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 118:24, readers are reminded that the day is filled with many joyous possibilities and that each day truly is a gift to be opened. I appreciated how gently the book introduces youngsters to God and also how the text reminds readers that even when mishaps happen or they face trials, there is still the chance to find or make something good in that day. And when your day is going particularly well, why not reach out to others who could use a helping hand and a little encouragement? Even older readers might enjoy being reminded that this is a day worth celebrating. After all, we never know how many more of these marvelous days we might have left.
Such a cute “seize the day” book for children! Parker invites young readers to enjoy every part of their day from their morning routine, to exciting play, and in quieter times. Even when things are looking glum (fearful, angry, painful), she encourages children to look on the bright side and keep going. The bright and cheerful illustrations feature a group of diverse children playing and enjoying life in different scenarios, and the rhyming text lends to a great read aloud.
