Take your audience on a journey to leave a more lasting impact Storyshowing is an instruction manual for making connections. Storytelling has been shown to be one of the most effective methods of persuasion, motivation and inspiration, yet the disconnect remains ― you're still only telling . To truly influence people, you need to go deeper than that ― you need to show them your story. By inviting your audience in, you connect on a much deeper, more emotional level; you bypass the brain and connect at the root of what it means to be human, leaving a profound impact on their entire outlook. This book shows you how to transcend telling and start showing your story, using an easy-to-follow framework you can start applying today. Unearth your own experiences, and bring your vulnerabilities out into the light; share your emotions and forge a path to true communication. Use images, body language and gestures as tools to build that indelible connection; then and only then will people truly engage and transform their thinking. No matter your message, the impact lies in the delivery. This insightful guide equips you with the tools and skills you need to start communicating like never before. The difference between telling and showing is like the difference between a lecture and a play. It's the difference between giving information and taking the audience on a journey. The difference between a brochure and a test drive. Storyshowing helps you level up your communication to leave a lasting, more profound impact.

This book tells and shows you the power of stories and in order to sell anything - a product or a message we should inform, inspire then transform our audience. The conduit to selling any message is through an authentic story.
I borrowed this book as I will start a new side project soon where I will use my personal experiences to create a teachable moment. Initially, I believed this is a way for me to process my career thus far and maybe inform me what I should do next. But not I realise In order to connect with an audience I need to focus on what they will get out of my stories and take them on the journey with me. I read this book in a couple of hours and believe I can apply some of the key messages to my work and side project.
Inspiring read. I like the way author has shared his real experience and created framework which has worked for him.. Recommend to all associated with public or professional speaking.

The facing pages of the chapters hold the key idea from each chapter, so it's easy to ascertain whether I wanted to read a particular chapter (if it applied to my storytelling/showing situation) by reading the bold white-on-black principle. Yeah, it reinforces much of what I've been learning about storytelling, with the difference of trying to bump it up using emotion and working toward a sale or lasting response. Recommended for those hoping to learn how to become a better storyteller. It's short and accessible.
Easy read on how to engage your audience by being authentic and honest about your own life and what has driven you forward. Great for anyone doing public speaking or in front of an audience.
A very quick and interesting read. Loved how various frameworks were explained using examples by Mr Cawthorn for speakers and storytellers. I think I can borrow and implement a few ideas myself.
Helpful on preparation. I was just having a presentation for the parents of the classmates of my son. By using the technical of the book, I got good feedback.
The book tries to make you believe that there is only ONE TYPE of audience that reacts predictably to a specific set of body language-intonation-stage act. It therefore postulates no differences in culture and intracultural differences, between genders, ages, professions. Not to mention that the constant mentioning of the fateful car accident eventually becomes boring and irritating. There are much better books on public talking. The only part worth any kind of closer reading starts on p. 113. That took a lot of patience, let me tell you, to get that far :-).
In February 2019 I attended the bootcamp the Sam Cawthorn held and it was a great 3 day event money well spent. This book is a great read. I have learned a lot from this book much enjoyed.
