Over fifty years in the making, this book exposes a mystery set in the Swingin' Sixties. The author writes as a “fly on the wall” spectator with a hands-on feel of the era, who survived backstage high drama, internecine band squabbling and on-stage explosions, both musical and actual.
J. Galobich J. is John Galobich. He began his music business career as a member of Milwaukee's Beatles, The Ricochettes. Several years later, he began working as a promotion manager for Columbia Records. As such, he transferred to Chicago, later becoming Regional Promotion Manager for the Midwest. He left Columbia Records to become a partner managing international hit makers, The Ides of March and Chase. Independently he managed vocal sensations The Arbors and jazz pianist Bob James. For the past 25 years, he has sold records online as Variety Vintage Vinyl on EBay and Discogs.
A gritty, atmospheric thriller that starts off with a ‘bang’. It has all the important elements of the genre including a protagonist with a unique voice. Ira Cohn is a middle-aged, long-time road manager for some of the biggest bands of several decades, and he takes us on a journey behind the scenes in the sixties.
Alive with history – a nostalgic road trip for those of us who remember the era, the bands, and record labels.
Only someone who has worked extensively inside the music industry could have pulled this off with such flair. I’m looking forward to the next book!
