The Kingdom of Neep

Rate this book
"The Kingdom of Neep can be found just beyond the edges of Earth, 'on the meadows of green that roll beside the lake of Biggledeewoe.' The Neeps, whose tiny mouths are squished between chubby cheeks and whose four small front teeth you cannot see. work together, living off the abundant land where gourds and pumpkins grow. The Farming Neeps plant the Bimbledeepods. The Pottery Neeps make bread-baking bowls. The Grandmother Neeps knit sweaters for winter's warmth, and the Fishing Neeps catch the Biggledeebream. So the Neeps live much like human beings do. But there is magic in the Kingdom of Neep, and its source is the wise and good tree witch, Philomena, who is the guardian of the land and lives in the mighty defloptuous tree. Philomena's great wish is for her beloved Neeps to meet the children of Earth. She finds a 'very brave Neep, as brave as you or I,' and sends him to Earth to 'Deliver the markers!' Thus, the real magic of 'The Kingdom of Neep' begins."
