Surprisingly moving fictionalization of the life of Elizabeth Seton, named as America’s first saint, ostensibly because the pope wanted a win for American Catholics so they’d get onboard with his agenda, which seems as good a reason as any for calling someone a saint. As a regular human person, Seton established the first Catholic schools at a time when Catholic “foreigners” were feared and despised. So I guess I owe my K-8 education to her. She also suffered so much death, illness and hardship in her life that the miracle was that she accomplished anything at all.
