J. A. Bullen was born 1988 in Mason, Michigan and has remained a local with his wife and daughter. He currently leads free community fitness classes to spread his love for health and fitness. He first became interested in writing at the age of 8 but never pursued it passionately until explaining to his daughter, the importance of having dreams and pursuing them.
J. A. Bullen mostly delves into Epic Fantasy Fictions, Thrillers, Horrors or Science Fiction (Lord of the Rings, The Last Apprentice, Inheritance Cycle, anything by Rick Riordan or Stephen King.) He is most passionate about his family and often leaves secret references to his wife and daughter in his work.

Rise of the Divine Knight by J.A. Bullen is an epic continuation of The Legends of Valoria, delivering high-stakes fantasy, emotional depth, and relentless tension.

The story picks up after the devastating attack on the Grand Cathedral, plunging Talia and her allies into a desperate struggle for survival. With Marec gone, Alec gravely wounded, and the Forsaken’s threat escalating, Talia must step into the role of both warrior and protector. But the dangers aren’t only on the battlefield hidden enemies from neighboring nations conspire to end the paladin line forever, and betrayal lurks behind every face.

Bullen masterfully balances large-scale battles with intimate character moments. Talia’s fierce determination to protect Alec adds emotional resonance to the sweeping conflict, while the themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and resilience give the novel heart beyond its thrilling action. The sense that “death is only the beginning” casts a shadow of dread that keeps readers turning pages with urgency.

This is the second book in this series.
I had taken quite a few months before reading this after finishing the first and was pleasantly surprised on how well everything fell into place.
Alec was still separated from his body and Talia cares for him. There is competions early in the book between teams of fighters, and then let's just say things take a turn and shocking developments follow.
This is a great series to follow, the characters are easy to feel for, the author excells at writing action scenes, and the ending makes there a need to read the next book.

A great sequel

I was lucky enough to be able to read this book right after the first one, and this sequel did not disappoint. Bullen brings back Talia and friends, as they deal with the past and the new adventure facing them. Things are not always as they seem, and it's filled with compelling and gripping twists. I enjoyed this, as the author as a great way of showing a story.
