Boris Karloff is the pen name of Dov-Ber Kerler. Born in Moscow in 1958, he lived, studied, and taught in Jerusalem until 1984, in Oxford until 2000, and since 2001 in Bloomington, Indiana, where he holds the Dr. Alice Field Cohn Chair in Yiddish Studies. Has published five books of Yiddish poetry, including one with his father, the poet Josef Kerler (1918-2000).
