Mary Varga was a wife, new mom, business professional, and avid runner, until the course of her life was suddenly changed by a car accident and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Read Mary’s inspiring and sometimes humorous account of the accident, her losses, challenges, victories, and ultimately, her need to reinvent herself. See how Mary’s faith carries her through this dark tunnel, transporting her to a place of peace and joy. This memoir is an inspiration to all readers and an encouragement to individuals facing personal tragedy or any type of life adversity.
I have been a practicing licensed Speech Therapist working with the TBI population for close to 25 years. I also am from Louisville, Kentucky and work at NeuroRestorative which Mary mentioned briefly. Needless to say, I have read many books, specifically related to survivors. This is the most well written and true to the feelings and stigmas Mary described throughout her triumphant journey. I truly appreciate the honesty and inspirations provided for others to prosper from in their rehabilitation. I wish all my patients had the tenacity and love for life. I`m hoping to have the honors of meeting you soon!
Mary Varga is in our Scripture group. In 1997 she suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a wreck. Her life was forever changed. Mary was in a coma from early May until early July. She could no longer care for her 3 month old son. Eventually her husband divorced her and sued for custody of the baby. She is able to live on her own and has her own business. Her balance is compromised and her voice is not always easy to understand. She is a woman of faith. She credits her faith, family and friends for aiding her recovery.
