More Tough Crimes: True Cases by Canadian Judges and Criminal Lawyers
Edited by William Trudell and Lorene Shyba, More Tough Crimes is the third book in the Durvile True Cases series. Like other books in the series More Tough Crimes provides a unique window into the world of Canadian criminal justice. These stories are 'tough crimes' because of the emotional demands put on the judges and lawyers involved. Many cases in the book are recent, but some from the past were so disturbing that even decades later, they resonate in the public consciousness.

I wish there was another volume. I really enjoyed tough cases and this edition of tough cases. I highly recommend this for anyone with an interest in Canadian criminal law.

This book was not objective in any way and everything you read had to be taken with a grain of salt. Since it was the defence lawyers providing their story they excused away any bad behaviour of their client. It was annoying to read all the spinned stories. Each story was one sided and extremely biased. People should not take any of these stories as fact without researching both sides to get a complete picture.
Saying Eagleson, who was a crook and ran from his charges for years, wasn’t a bad guy because even though he did steal huge amounts of money (millions of dollars!!) he wasn’t hiding that he was stealing. It’s still taking advantage of someone when your clients trust you and don’t understand the contracts you are presenting (misleading people on purpose that were considered good friends and who take you on your word). I’m sure the family member of the player who died as a result of Eagleson’s actions robbing him doesn’t appreciate/ care why Eagleson sucked so bad. Good grief.
