Dead planets litter the Alorian Galaxy in the wake of interstellar war...
Ensign Brendle Quinn has spent five years loyally serving the Greshian Empire in their relentless quest to dominate the Alorian Galaxy. But, as his ship decimates planet after planet, he finds his sympathies swinging toward their defeated enemies.
Sergeant Anki Paro, a Luthian Marine, has been anxiously awaiting the call to deploy. As the last line of defense against the crushing Greshian forces, she hopes the time has finally come for her world to stand against tyranny. However, as her society prepares for imminent destruction, questions of misplaced loyalties lead Anki to wonder if the world she is trying to save has any real intentions of surviving.
As Brendle's and Anki's worlds collide, they find themselves in an unlikely alliance to try to stop the full might of the Greshian Empire before there's nothing left to fight for.
A stolen ship, a mission on the line, enemies at every turn...
After four months in hiding, Brendle Quin can't delay his mission any longer. His ship, the Replicade, is held together with failing patches, and he needs to make repairs in a port. Unfortunately, the nearest world with proper facilities is situated deep in Greshian-owned enemy territory.
The Greshian colony of Farax is a safe hold for piracy in the region, and none is more vile than Crase Tuin, a man known for trafficking people and weapons across the Alorian Galaxy. He has a reputation as the only pirate never to lose a ship--with the exception of the Replicade.
When Crase finds the Replicade, he vows to claim the lives of those who stole her. But Brendle won't go down without a fight.
Nothing has stopped the Greshian Empire's expanse, but all hope isn't lost...
The illusion of peace shrouds a hidden darkness. Just as the crew of the Replicade are getting settled on a seemingly tranquil world, they encounter a young girl with special abilities--and she's being hunted by a secret, powerful organization that will stop at nothing to have her.
When Anki and Brendle intervene to help the girl, they are caught in the organization's crosshairs. The crew must make a decision: give into the looming threat of the organization, or die fighting to protect her.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Ilium Gyl has taken command of a Greshian scout ship. A breach in protocol raises questions of his loyalty to the Greshian Empire, leading to a power struggle as a rebellion sparks in a distant sector of the Alorian Galaxy. His ambitions may cripple the Greshian Fleet, or he might just be the empire's savior.

Drew Avera is a Navy veteran, musician, and the bestselling author of the Dead Planet series and the Alorian Wars.
He was born and raised in rural Mississippi and grew up with a deep affection for comic books and science fiction movies and television shows. At one point he boasted a comic book collection with more than 1,000 issues. His love for comics inspired him to pursue a career as a comic book artist, but an injury to his hand ended that dream permanently.
Still, he was inspired to create in one medium or the other. He picked up a guitar at fifteen years old and began writing songs almost immediately. That “obsession” as his parents called it put him on the path to rock stardom…in his bedroom.
It was when he turned sixteen and bought the novel “What Savage Beast” by Peter David (The Incredible Hulk) that he caught the bug to be a writer. Unfortunately, it would not come to fruition until fourteen years later.
Drew enlisted in the US Navy as an Aviation Electricians Mate at seventeen years old. He served twenty years and deployed on four combat deployments to the Persian Gulf. During those deployments he would spend his free time reading books. He loved reading books in a series and that inspired his journey to becoming a fiction author.
In November 2012, at the age of thirty, Drew began his journey as an author by participating in national Novel Writing Month (NANoWriMo). He published his first book in March of 2013 and the rest, as they say, is history. With more than twenty books published in the space opera, military science fiction, cyberpunk, and dystopian genres, he has built a backlog with something for everyone who enjoys science fiction adventures.
After retiring from the Navy, he began an exciting new career in the simulation field. Drew is now focusing his efforts on building upon what he learned in his first eight years of publishing. He has plans for an all-new space opera and military science fiction series as well as new collaborations with other writers.
As usual the author Drew Avera imagination is like no others. With this first three book set of five in this series we get an awesome science fiction, space battles, cool weapons, different aliens and many stories which together create an awesome one. I’d love to get my hand on the last two.
There will be Russian. and the biggest twist ever. the child Vesna.
Narration by Rebecca Sternberg is beautifully done for each of the characters in this creation.
Broken Worlds: The Alorian Wars Space Opera Series: Book 1, my sixteenth read/listen from author Drew Avera. Enjoyable space opera science fiction.
Deadly Refuge: The Alorian Wars, Book 2.
Mutiny Rising (Alorian Wars, #3). I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. The book was well-written & flowed smoothly & quickly. The action has cranked up over the first 3+ books and I anticipate it increasing more. I look forward to reading more from this author and in this series, in fact, Shadow Empire: The Alorian Wars, Book 4 will be high on my TBR list just as soon as I get it. The book was well-narrated, by Rebecca Sternberg. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated beautifully by Rebecca Sternberg, for Ensign Brendle Quinn and Sergeant Anki Paro all they're known is the relentless war waged by the Greshian and Alorian governments- hoping it some point one earning a clear and prominent victory. Serving within their military wings once a source of pride for both of them, begins to seed in each person that this ruthless conquest these grand empires have embarked upon us poisoning the future of any hope of peace and alliance. Beautifully poignant and harrowing intense, the Alorian Wars is a moral gray adventure that will keep you coming back to revisit and the desire to read more.
I enjoyed the book, but a little bothered by the style of writing (jumping from character to character by chapter). To me it effected the flow of the book.
This is a worthwhile read and therefore value for money. The Alorian Galaxy is in turmoil and a renegade might be the secret weapon that turns the tide.
This book has it all action, suspense, conflict, awesome character, a story that leaves you wanting more, and even a bit of romance. This is the kind of book that that you just don't want to put down, or in my case stop listening too. Rebecca Sternberg is a perfect narrator for this book.
Our four ragtag friends, must fly through space in their poor wore out ship and try and save the galaxy from the Greshian Empire who will either take or destroy everything.
This really is a great series and a wonderful audio to give a try.
