This series provided wonderful escape material during the Pandemic. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and their foibles throughout the series. Not a lot of character surprises aside from the plot twists and I was OK with that. Each book was an invitation back into a familiar community of characters I experienced as warm and familiar.
Perfect escape material over the long pandemic summer. (Good for long dark winter as well).

Fun read, but the narrator needs to improve his Quebecois pronunciation; the same goes for his Canadian English, too, especially his proper nouns. And really, it’s very few Quebecers who switch between languages mid-conversation like the author describes. The folks in NB are the most bilingual in the nation.
