Trials and tribulations of a family in Victorian Scotland, elevated beyond drawing room drama by vivid descriptions of an evolving Glasgow and great insight into the burgeoning whisky industry of the time.

A good saga with the backdrop of scotland and its speciality: whisky. Good plot although the writing is longwinded.
