Rotten Pleasantness: Dark & Strange Poems and Prose

Rate this book
Veronica McDonald's first chapbook is full of things dark and strange. In these 24 poems and flash pieces, the reader is invited on a journey through childhood nostalgia, teenage awkwardness, and unhealthy romances twisted by the powers of magical realism. Monsters will appear, the inanimate will come to life, and all will get lost in the murkiness between real and imaginary.

I really enjoyed these 24 poems. Sometimes I like poems people write and other times I am not so sure but these were great! These poems took me through childhood, teenage, and some unpleasant romances. Things I think we are all familiar with in our lives. Veronica has a great way of writing and I enjoyed when she blurred the lines between real and imaginary. * I received this book from the author and this is my honest review*
