Over 500 pages of absolute terror...
The Shadow Fabric: a supernatural horror novel. Leo remembers little of his past. Desperate for a new life, he snatches up the first job to come along. On his second day he witnesses a murder, and the Shadow Fabric – a malevolent force that controls the darkness – takes the body and vanishes with it.
Determined to get answers, Leo has no idea where to turn. Revelations come in the most unlikely places, and secrets of witchcraft and ancient artefacts unfold. In particular, a device used in the 17th century to extract evil from witches proves key to his discoveries. With these truths long hidden from humankind, his memory unravels. Not only haunted by the past, a sinister presence within the darkness threatens Leo’s existence and he soon doubts everything and everyone...including himself.
The relentless and destructive power of the Shadow Fabric compels Leo to fight not only this growing darkness, but also the entity beneath the Fabric’s surface. While these supernatural horrors rage and his world crumbles, Leo must confront his past before he can embrace his future. But the future may not exist.
Sinister Stitches: a collection of short horror stories, including:
'Next on the List' - “I hate changes.” 'Midnight Clay' - ...a mess of black and crimson. 'A Demon's Thread' - ...campfire stories... 'On the Vine' - Barbs sliced his forearms and the torch flew from his hand. 'The Artist and the Crone' - Part-flesh, part-shadow, the foul garment writhed on the ground. 'Due South' - He really should’ve driven like most people. 'Red, White, and Black' - ...filth glistened, protruding through torn flesh and broken bone... 'Intensive Scare' - It churned like liquid, bubbled, and swept up and into my eyes. 'Meeting Mum' - Beneath the gleaming skin, those traceries of veins wriggled like a hundred worms. 'Seeing is Believing' - When he removed those glasses, I saw his bloodshot eyes. 'Disturbed' - The night pressed down. His hands clawed his head, tugged at his hat. “No!” 'Welcome Home' - She’d vanished last night . . . or was it last week?
Each story binds the Shadow Fabric mythos tighter, revealing that everything around us is entwined with a deep-rooted darkness. And sometimes that darkness — the fabric — tears.
'Ten Minutes Till Deadtime' and 'Claimed': two stories that prove no matter where you are in the world, the darkness will find you...
'Dead Lines': A previously unpublished short tale of an artist struggling to meet deadlines because the dead have other plans.
Dark fantasy horror stories of demons, devices, and deceit.
Mark Cassell lives on the south-east coast of England with his wife and a number of animals, including Arnie the bearded dragon. Mark's jobs have included baker, lab technician, driving instructor, actor, and was once a spotlight operator for an Elvis impersonator. Best known for supernatural horror, he has seen almost 50 stories feature in magazines and anthologies by, among others, Crystal Lake Publishing, and The Sinister Horror Company, where he proves his penchant for ignoring typical horror tropes and casting them into the void.
His best-selling debut novel THE SHADOW FABRIC is closely followed by the short story collection STITCHES AND THREADS, both of which are a fraction of an expanding mythos of modern-day cosmic horror. The novella HELL CAT OF THE HOLT further explores the highly regarded Shadow Fabric mythos with ghosts and a black cat legend.
Collaborating with Future Chronicles Photography, Mark’s dystopian cyberpunk collection CHAOS HALO and his Lovecraftian steampunk horror novelette IN THE COMPANY OF FALSE GODS sees his prose in other genres.
The Shadow Fabric is back in many forms. Darkness or in this matter shadows, hold many kinds of evil.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It kept you intrigued. I've really enjoyed reading some of Mark Cassell's work such as Chaos Hall 1.0, Sinister Stitches, and Ten Minutes Till Deadtime. I look forward to reading more of his books such as "Scatter"
Of course I am joking about the friendly. These tales just get better and better. In this book, we meet the Shadow Fabric again in different guises. The entity that drives it comes in many forms. All of them not nice! However, and this is a big however, we know this is fiction so there is no need for night lights to keep the shadows at bay....or is there?
