Caitlin was fortunate growing up to be surrounded by family and teachers that encouraged her love of reading. She has always been a voracious reader and that love of the written word easily morphed into a passion for writing. If she isn't writing, she can usually be found studying as she works toward her counseling degree. She comes from a military family and the men and women of the armed forces are close to her heart. She also enjoys gardening and horseback riding in the Colorado Rockies where she calls home with her wonderful fiance and their dog. Her belief that there is no one true path to happily ever after runs deeply through all of her stories.

Parents, be they the biological or the foster kind, can have the best of intentions for their kids and yet, some of their decisions can have a devastating effect. In this story, Adam doesn’t even know that the boy he thought abandoned him has actually been kicked out by their foster mother, a woman whom Adam has loved and respected for many years. When her death results in him finally discovering the truth, a new world of possibilities opens up for Adam.

I really liked the concept of this story and could actually see something like this happening to two teenage boys in the same foster home. The start of it was excellent. My problem was that as Adam was going through the box that Jenna left him, it felt like he was not really going through the details. As he told Brandon about it, I still felt things were missing. There was so much potential to give the book more depth that would have made it easier to connect with the characters. Going straight from telling Brandon to knocking on doors was a missed opportunity.

Another thing that got me was how quick Adam and Conner went from a short conversation to sex. Again, there was so much the author could have done with that. How was life for Conner when he got kicked out? What did he go through to get where he is now?

I would deeply love for the author to revisit this story and flesh it out more. Caitlin Ricci has a knack for coming up with great story concepts that get you in the perfect mindset before you even get to the first chapter. When I read the blurb first, my thoughts were of wanting to know what happened to Conner. I wanted to find out how the events that happened to Adam and Connor as teenagers affected them. I wanted to how they would deal with it. That was almost more important than them getting together. Caitlin Ricci has the potential to go from good to great.

I look forward to reading more as she continues to grow.
