The size of the atlas fits just fine to me. It's quite useful as a comparison when I read some history books and want to know the exact location regarding some historical places or cities. If you ever feel lost when you want to find any specific place on the map then the index section would be a useful tool to help you find the place you're looking for.

How can you read an Atlas? You can't. How can you review an Atlas? You can't. However this is the only book that sits permanently on my bedside table. I am currently reading Anthony Beevor's "The Second World War". Whenever the Japanese counter attack in The Solomon Islands I'm looking at my Times Atlas. Whenever Army Group North are laying siege to Leningrad, I'm looking at my Times Atlas. Invaluable is how I'd describe it. An outstanding idea, as opposed to an outstanding Atlas. Get one.

This is one of the best atlases I have ever read. I'm still upset by how my copy got torn up 3-4 years ago. I highly reccomend it as it also has country factfiles, climate data and other information.
