Travis figures Jordana will meet her teen idol, and Malik will be happy Jordana is happy. However, Malik knows his tone-deaf fiancée isn’t up to the difficult song she wants to perform at their wedding. He needs Travis’s help to save her from embarrassment, and Travis agrees to intervene with Keelin.

Keelin, though, refuses to change the song behind Jordana’s back. Travis leaves feeling chastised, intrigued—and impressed with Keelin’s integrity. Likewise, Keelin admires Travis’s loyalty to his friends. An apology becomes dinner, which becomes the start of a relationship. OMG, what happened here?!?!?! Seriously, I think this is one of the biggest let-downs of a book I’ve had in awhile. First, before I read this, I picked up the first book in this series, Pop Life… and it was great! The story was awesome, the characters wonderful, the power struggles and interplay worked, so I couldn’t wait to read the second installment.

And it was not worth the read. (gasp, I know!)

In This is Our Love Song, we catch up with a different member of the band from the first book, 16 years later, and we find him as a voice coach in New York… where he meets his new (and very random) love interest. Their perceived friction point was lackluster (and lame), and the extra characters and information was a distraction.

Everything that the first book did really well, was completely missed in this go. In fact, it was so good, that’s the book I’d recommend you reading. The best follow-up here would have been a shorter time frame, a longer book, maybe revisit the characters we already loved, and stop having a flash from the past come in and interrupt things (it was great seeing him, but made me those guys even more).

All this book really did for me was confirm Paeder is an asshole. Definitely felt like there should have been more involving Declan and that whole bit, but it didn't really go anywhere.
