I feel a little deceived by this book. I decided to pick up this book after reading a preview of the title story. Out of all the pieces in this collection, that story is the only one worth the price of the book. This collection alternates between fiction pieces and the author's personal narratives. I could have done with more of the former and less of the latter. And even among the fiction pieces, the title story (about a seemingly immortal matriarch who preys on the life essence of her family members to maintain her existence) was the only one to hold my interest. I would just find a way to get a copy of just that story instead of spending the money on the whole book itself.

Whether I don't like the author's writings or I just don't like essay story.
I expected to be a heartwarming fiction then it turned out horrible essay.
And she even left her email address to send her email for the horrible experience she had.
The word 'grandma' is kinda sad and heartful. So I picked this book and the author is quite famous.
Then, both selection was wrong I guess...!
